How do you reset the security system on a 2004 Saturn Vue?
Typically 'clicking' means there is not enough power to the starter even though lights, wipers, etc. (low power items work). Suggestion: remove battery cables and clean both battery terminals and inside of cable connectors. Reconnect cables try to start the car: you can get a tool to clean cables and terminals at any parts store. If after that it still doesn't start, call your dealer service department.

How do you remove a Saturn Vue dashboard?
Information for this answer was found on saturnfans discussion forum. This seems to cover removing the center part of the dashboard covering the radio, hvac controls, etc.
Overview
This manual covers the removal and installation of the factory radio into the 2004 Saturn VUE.
This task requires minimal ability to complete and can be undertaken by any dealership technician. Being an employee of the dealership, familiarity with general mechanical skills is presumed.
WARNING: BEFORE BEGINNING THE REMOVAL OF THE FACTORY RADIO UNIT, DISCONNECT THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLES ELECTRONIC AND/OR COMPUTER SYSTEMS.
Required Tools
The following hand tools will be required to perform this task:
 #2 Phillips screwdriver
 7mm nut driver
Setup
Park on a flat surface and set the vehicle parking brake.
Turn the ignition key to the ON position but DO NOT START THE VEHICLE.
Record the customers current radio station selections for programming into new radio unit.
On an automatic transmission equipped vehicle, depress the brake pedal and move the shift lever to the L (or Low) position.
On manual transmission equipped vehicles, depress the clutch and move the shift in 4th gear.
Trim Removal
During this procedure, use firm but straight forces when removing and installing the plastic shift and dash trim pieces. Pulling upward at an angle could case damage to them.
Lift up the lower left corner of shift trim piece until it unsnaps from the shift console.
Slide the trim piece back so that it hangs between the seats.
NOTE: THERE ARE SEVERAL ELECTRICAL ATTACHMENTS TO THIS TRIM PIECE SO IT WILL NOT SEPARATE TOO FAR FROM THE CONSOLE SO DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FORCE SEPARATION.
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the four screws holding in the plastic cubby and set the cubby aside. If vehicle is equipped with factory installed Comfort Package heated seat switch panel, remove the four screws and let the switch assembly hang down into the console.
Lift the dash trim piece until the assembly snaps off the dashboard by lifting the bottom.
This will expose the stock factory radio unit.
NOTE: THIS ASSEMBLY HAS MANY ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL CONNECTORS ATTACHED TO IT AND IT WILL NOT SEPARATE TOO FAR FROM THE DASHBOARD, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FORCE SEPARATION.
Radio Removal
Using the 7mm nut driver, loosen and remove the two hex head screws (one on the left and one on the right of the radio unit) holding the factory radio unit into the dashboard.
Slide the factory radio unit out of the dashboard by lifting on the face plate and pulling the radio unit toward the rear of the vehicle. The unit will slide out of dashboard with little resistance.
Once the radio unit has cleared the dashboard, unplug the antenna connector from the rear of the radio unit.
After the antenna has been unplugged, the radio unit will slide a little further from the dashboard and you will have access to the large factory wiring connector located on the rear of the factory radio unit. Unplug this connector from the back of the factory radio unit.
Radio Installation
Remove the replacement radio unit from the packing material.
Place the replacement radio unit into the stock radio units dashboard opening.
Reconnect the factory wiring connector and antenna connector to the rear of the replacement radio unit.
Slide the replacement radio unit completely into the stock dashboard location. The radio unit will align into the opening on the right and left alignment studs.
Using the 7mm nut driver, reinstall the two hex head screws to secure the radio unit into the dashboard.
Trim Installation
Place the top edge to the dash trim assembly into the alignment slots at the top of the dash board.
Using even pressure and straight downward force, press on the dash trim assembly until it snaps into place.
Place the top edge to the shift trim piece into the alignment slots under the dash trim piece.
Using even pressure and straight downward force, press on the shift trim assembly until it snaps into place in the shift console.
NOTE: MAKE SURE THAT ALL ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL CONNECTORS ARE STILL ATTACHED TO THE DASH AND SHIFT TRIM ASSEMBLY. IF ANY CONNECTOR HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED, REATTACH THE CONNECTOR TO THE CORRESPONDING TRIM ASSEMBLY BEFORE CONTINUING.
Wrap Up
On an automatic transmission equipped vehicle, depress the brake pedal and move the shift lever to the P (or Park) position.
On manual transmission equipped vehicles, depress the clutch and move the shift to neutral.
Turn the key to the OFF position.
Reconnect the positive battery cable.
Test the new radio unit and reprogram customers radio station selections.

I have an 02 and it moans when I steer (right in the column, not further under the hood) too. This happened after it was nearly completely undriven for a couple of years except for occasional Sunday forays to take my mother-in-law to church. I have been driving the moaning-mobile for a year steadily and it seems to be less now, however no one has been able to answer and I hesitate to take it to the dealer and be shafted. Location of battery on a2003 Saturn vue?
On my 2003 4 cylinder 2.2 liter the battery is located on the driver's side under a protective covering behind the driver's side headlights. There is a small hole in the cover to seee the battery "OK" indicator. Behind the battery is another black cover which is a fusebox. Mine has a picture of a automobile fuse on it.
Guess what, I have this this problem and I have been dealing with Saturn of Totowa in New Jersey, Granted that they closed several dealerships in Bergen County I now understand why, bottom line is that their service department sucks. I finance a 2007 Saturn Vue, I have 24,800 miles on the car and am having a major issue which Saturn states is the "BCM" My problem, the interior light flicker on and off while the locks are locking and unlocking as I'm driving.. COMPLETELY DANGEROUS SITUATION, then as i park, turn the car off, the interior lights stay on constant. door locks are up to open the doors but the handle's do not let me open the doors basically i am locked in the car. again "COMPLETLY DANGEROUS" The dealership replaced the BCM ( Body Control Module ) STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM now they blame a stereo unit that i had professionally installed two years ago..their service writer stated that they tapped into the BCM wiring which is directly behind the stereo unit... Their tech stated that it wasn't tapped in. but in any case now they are denying to anaylize the issue further and need authorization from Saturn to proceed. O.K. I have to disconnect the battery every night so that the car would start in the morning because all of the interior lights stay on while the car is off. nice job Saturn of Totowa, NJ...anyone any answers..

How do you remove a radio from a 2004 Saturn Vue?
i have a 2004 satrun vue with a 6 CD changer. i would like to change the time on the radio. how do i do that?
The first 'answer' immediately proceeding this paragraph is a question that is easily answered by reading the owner's manual and will depend on if your radio has RDS or not. (should be a separate question)
I just removed the radio on a 2004 Saturn Vue (automatic transmission, bucket seats, center floor console) [Assuming your radio has the theft deterrent cover...] The dashboard panel that covers your radio is held in place by push-in clips that are integrated into the covers. You can probably loosen these clips by starting at a bottom corner below the shift lever. I assumed this wouldn't be possible and partially removed the 2 lower side panels that cover the two sides of the transmission and environmental controls portion of the dashboard. These panels are attached with Phillips head screws and push-in fasteners. These 2 panels also have screws holding them together directly below the shift lever. I did not remove the bottom screw (due to lack of space to for a screw driver) and was still able to acces the covers for the shift lever and radio/environmental control areas.
After loosening and removing the center covers, the radio can be removed by firmly grabbing the top and bottom of the radio unit and pulling it straight out (only partially) toward the center of your vehicle. Once you have the unit pulled out to the point where the back clears the dashboard housing you will need to unplug the wires. There will be several wire sets. Mine had one power cable that was easy to pull out and a ground wire (green) that slid off of the small knife-post on the back right of the radio. The other 2 connectors were wire bundles that had plastic clips. You should have to squeeze the tab connectors as you are pulling these clips to remove them. Once all your wires are disconnected, remove the radio the rest of the way. If you are replacing the radio, you will need to save the rail mounts on the side of your old radio and install them on your new radio. Pay attention to which wire bundle cam from where and what the orientation is while you are trying to plug them back in.
When you have everything reassembled and you are putting your dashboard panels, you may have to apply some force to get some of the clips to set - make sure everything is lined up properly and nothing (wire, edge of plastic, whatever) is not in the gap you are trying to close before you 'thump' the panel back in to place.
Good luck.
I also dismantled my 6-disk changer and re-built it while I was doing this and my whole operation from start to finish was about 4 hours. I had no experience at all with removing a radio from a vehicle when I started, but had pulled off several interior panels for other reasons. If you're unsure of what you're doing, take pictures as you go and keep track of which screw came from where. (helps when you're putting things back together)
Saturn vue revs high when it changes gear and does not go into gear when you come to stop?
I would first check the transmission fluid level.

How do you replace harmonic balancer in a 2005 Saturn Vue?
I replaced one on a 2004 VUE.
Remove the passenger side front tire and access panel of wheel well. I put large solid pieces of wood , like railroad ties, under frame. If the vehicle falls it will kill you.
If you do not have a tool to hold the balancer while removing the bolt you can improvise.
Make a strap wrench. I used the nylon straps electricians use to pull wires through commercial buildings. The strap can be wound around the balance in the opposite direction that you turn the bolt. The strap will overlap itself, keep it tight. Thread the strap through an opening in the frame and tie it securely to a metal rod. Keep the tension on the strap and use a wrench to turn the balancer until the rod is up against the frame. The strap will produce enough friction with the rubber on the balance and hold it while you use a break bar to remove the bolt on the end of the balancer.
Once the bolt is off you will be able to slide the balancer off the crankshaft with little effort. Next slide new one on the crankshaft "you will see the key that guides it on". Put the bolt on finger tight.
Now reverse your strap wrench. One problem the new balancer has the grooved metal pulley and the strap will not grab the metal. Fix- Take a rubber inner tube from a bicycle tire. Cut it into a flat band to wrap around the pulley. Now you can wrap the strap over the tube. The tube grabs the metal and the strap grabs the rubber.
You will need a torque wrench which you can borrow from an Auto-zone or some other parts store. Make sure the dealer ship tells you how many pounds of foot torque are need and get the wrench set properly. Use the wrench to tighten the bolt without stripping the threads out. The wrench will click and you will know you have used enough pressure. I used my legs with my foot on the wrench to get the proper amount of pressure.
This not an easy task but you can save a little money. Please put good solid blocks under the car in enough places so that it cannot fall!!!!!!!! If it does fall it will crush you. Stands are not enough
