In theory, there is no disadvantages to wearing a Hijab. It is a form of religious freedom which we are all granted in the United States. The only disadvantage comes from the uneducated people who are not familiar with Islam. Without being familiar with the religion, they tend to judge. But the disadvantage is for the people who discriminate those who wear the Hijab, not the actual person who wears it.

In most cases, buying several school uniforms is going to be a lot less then purchasing other clothes, particularly if the child is going to whine about having various in fashion items that cost a premium.

I wouldn't exactly call what the amish wear "uniforms." It is a sort of dress code, though. Each Amish community has a kind of rulebook called an Ordnung which dictates much of Amish daily life. Ordnungs are different in each community. In some communities, the Ordnung is as strict as to determine the type of thread used to stitch the clothing. When it comes to the clothing, only young children can wear more vibrant colors, like pink, depending on the community's Ordnung. When children get older the girls have to wear bonnets that their hair (in a bun) is "tucked" into. Women always wear dresses, and I believe they also wear aprons most of the time. Men wear pants and long sleeved shirts (depending on weather?) with suspenders. Men often wear hats, as most farmers wear. Married men grow beards. Women don't shave legs. The list goes on and on. If you want to learn more you can look up an Amish documentary on Netflix- more interesting than it sounds.

No. Being a bully comes from something dirty inside. Changing what you wear will not change your heart and mind. If that worked, then we could just tear down all the prisons and force former inmates to wear uniforms. Just don't let them dress like murderers, thieves, addicts, batterers, etc. However, there is no way to identify criminals from their clothing. Unlike in the movies, bad people don't all wear masks and striped jumpsuits. Most try to blend in so they can be more effective at committing crimes.

Uniforms are only a short-range solution that can do more harm than good in the long run. You don't want to send the message that people not wearing uniforms are not worthy of protection from bullying. Being exposed only to those who look and think alike does nothing to make a person more tolerant of others.

Uniforms do have their places. If there is a lot of income class-based bullying, then making everyone wear uniforms may get rid of bullying over what people are wearing. Or when there are gang problems, then that could make it harder for members to identify their rivals, and harder for those not in gangs to accidentally dress as members of a particular gang.

It is not extremely important however it does give the students something more to learn, which is what college is suppose to be about.

- students can't express themselves. they will then try to alter their uniforms (girls roll up their skirts, etc)

- the uniforms are quite expensive

- they may be uncomfortable

Uniforms keep everyone on the same level, and prevent inappropriate dress. They are also a quick way to identify students in the event of an emergency, on field trips and at other school activities.

1. They might not pay attention during class because they keep messing with uncomfortable clothes.

2. Uniforms stifles their self-expression. Childhood is the time for self-expression. If you can't express yourself during childhood, you won't be allowed to do it later. Certainly not in the military, only to a certain extent in college, certainly not on the job, and likely not after marriage.

3. Ironically, uniforms teach snobbishness and bullying. It sends the message that you are not worth anything unless you look like everyone else. Teaching "professionalism" is not necessarily a good thing, since that usually means teaching snobbery and intolerance for difference and change. Teaching others to live lies and pretend to be people other than who they are is never good. If students are not exposed to difference early in life and disciplined each time they disrupt or bully because someone looks a little different, then that simply causes them to want to do so as soon as they leave the sheltered environment of school.

4. Uniforms and excessive, unreasonable dress codes stifle creativity. The students who want to express themselves the most often are the most intelligent and have the most to offer. But forcing them to be someone else just so the bullies and low-income students can feel more comfortable is unfair to them. Most of the students who are suspended for what they wear are high academic achievers.

5. They contribute to victim-blaming. We would never tell a victim of sexual assault that she asked for it because of what she was wearing. But uniforms send the message that students should get bullied if they don't wear what others want them to wear. Getting sent home for being out of uniform is really no better then getting physically attacked by another student because of what you choose to wear. Both are types of bullying.

Normally in my experience you rent the uniform from the school or team but could keep some things like the shoes or bags

• lessen the pressure to constantly think of/ buy new outfits
• lessen the chance of being judged at school for your clothes
• make mornings less of a hassle as you don't need to choose an outfit
