Alas, I am also among those who have no money to spend, but kind fellow, i know for sure that the only way to make a 49cc scooter go faster (significantly at that) is to buy a new sprocket for either the main drive "zone" or the clutch, but i would recommend not fooling around with your scooter, because 3 years ago, i did what you want to do, damaged a very delicate part that is very, very, hard to replace, and when i was riding it, i fell off the scooter because the throttle cable had become damaged, unintentionally, and would not allow me to slow down, well, long story short, i hit a rock, went over my handlebars, and wasn't able to walk because both my ankles were sprained and i pulled my knee out of its socket.

If it is under 50cc (in Michigan at least) you must be at least 15 and get a moped license which costs about 8 bucks, and you have to register the moped and put a sticker ont he back that costs 15 bucks. If it is OVER 50cc you need a driver's license and a moped endorsement.
If it IS under 50cc AND you have a driver's license, you're good to go. Also, if you get a driver's license after you get a moped license, you have to give up the moped license, but you can still legally ride it

How do you install a basic rpm gauge to a mini bike motor its a 6.5 gx 200cc Honda clone engine?
Get an RPM meter (tachometer) for 1 cylinder 4 stroke engine to match with your engine.
Connect ground wire from RPM to body, usually black colored wire.
Connect power wire to ignition switch, make sure it is connected to 'ON' position of switch, this wire usually with yellow insulation.
Connect green wire to coil negative terminal, this terminal is connected to contact point or ignition trigger system, the wire from tachometer is usually with green insulation.
Start your engine and check RPM reading.
