Well lard which is made from pig fat was used in ancient times to protect against brown spots in aging and also protects against the radiation from the sun.

The best self-defense system that I have found, one that can be utilized by anyone without the endless hours of practice (though some practice is required), is Richard Dimitri's Senshido, and it's main concept, the Shredder. Below is a link where you can read a little about it.

This is a rather vague question since you would have to specify who "they" are. However, Taekwondo has been used for self defense from the time it was first established as the national Martial Art of Korea, until today. Even before the name Taekwondo was officially used to describe the Korean Martial Art, the curriculum of striking with punches and kicks, throwing and grappling was taught in Korea for centuries, and used both in the military, and among villagers to defend themselves.

Our modern culmination of Taekwondo was used in post WWII Korea from 1945 until 1950 in combating the street gangs and criminals that were wreaking havoc on the newly liberated society at the end of the Japanese occupation. From 1950 to 1953, Korea was engaged in a civil war between the communist north, and the Republic of Korea in the south. Soldiers of the South Korean ROK Army were trained in special hand-to-hand combat tactics that were proven very effective.

Following the Korean war, the surviving Kwans (Martial Art schools) and their leaders organized to form a unified system which was officially called Taekwondo on April 11, 1955, but underwent some name changes until 1965 when the name was finally agreed upon. The Korea Taekwondo Association (KTA) was formed in 1959, and officially registered with the Korean government in 1961. Many of the high ranking Masters were dispatched abroad to give demonstrations, and teach Taekwondo to foreign military personnel. During the Vietnam War (1955 - 1975), Korean soldiers trained in Taekwondo formed an elite group of special forces that were feared among the North Vietnamese and Vietcong, and the communist soldiers were reportedly advised to avoid encounters with the ROK Tiger division at all cost.

From the 1960's on, Taekwondo has been spreading to many countries on all inhabited continents, and has been used for self defense by many practitioners in both the military, and civilian population. Even as Taekwondo tournaments grow in popularity in the sport arena, Taekwondo remains one of the most deadly and effective forms of self defense in the world. Some schools are dedicated specifically to sports, while others remain focused on self defense, and many maintain a balance of both.

The police advice in the UK is that you can use 'appropriate methods' to defend yourself and your property. You do not have to think hard about the appropriateness in the heat of the moment, but the force must not be excessive. In those terms, it is up to you to think whether it is good to carry a pepper spray on the off-chance that you may be attacked. You might have to justify in court your action of using the pepper spray.

The Kershaw 1560 Whirlwind has an MSRP of $85, but you can find it for less elsewhere. It doesn't have the best steel, 440A, and it doesn't have a flipper, but it does use Ken Onion SpeedSafe which is deployed with the thumb stud. There are other Kershaw models that are sold for less than that MSRP and have better handle material. The Whirlwind has glass-filled nylon, but other Kershaws have G10, which is more slip/water/oil resistant.

most states do not require any license to have a frearm in the home. Again, most state allow for self protection in ones home.....................

Any of the three can be effective for self defense. Hapkido and Jujitsu are similar in some respects, and of course Judo was derived from Jujitsu.

As a second degree black belt in judo I would say that either of the first two would be better because I believe they both involve learning to block strikes and kicks. A two-time national judo champion and martial arts legend in California felt that free-style wrestling was the most practical because fights usually end up on the ground.

In the USA, felony parolees are not permitted to carry any weapons of any kind, even for self-defense or hunting. Once they have successfully completed their parole, they might be permitted to have a weapon in their own home, depending on his/her State's laws and with the approval from his/her parole officer, but the felon would be prohibited from carrying the weapon outside their home (n.b., Federal laws prohibit any ex-felony convict from owning a gun, ever).

Tasers can be used when a person is a danger to themselves or others. They are an alternative to firearms, when the situation allows for it.

The samurai used more than one martial art for unarmed combat. Three of the primary ones were Jui Jitsu, Akaido, and Judo.

Under Massachusetts common law, if you are attacked or reasonably believe you are going to be attacked, placing you in immediate danger of physical harm, you have a right to take the steps necessary to defend yourself. You are required to take reasonable steps, if you can, to avoid physical combat before resorting to force. You are not allowed to use more force than is reasonably necessary to defend yourself from your attacker. You may use deadly force only if you have reason to believe your attacker poses a genuine threat to cause you severe bodily harm or death.

None! Pepper spray could seriously harm a dog and damage its nose, eyes or skin and could be considered as abuse. Never ever pepper spray a dog!

They work similar to stun guns.

There is no self defense law in Ohio. There are stipulations tho. If you cant run away and use just enough force to stop the conflict then you can get away with it, but there is technically no self defense law

if the dog had attacked you after a command from the controlling officer, say grabberd your arm or leg to stop you running away then yes - assaulting a police dog is the same as assaulting a police officer!

On the other hand if the dog then went wild and tried to tear you to pieces, say was trying to get at your throat then you would be able to defend yourself - but only if the dog was obviously out of control.

If a police dog just attacks you for no reason (say runs away from a plice officer at an airport and tries to savage you) then yes you could defend yourself.

Regarding self defense, the 6.35 (.25 caliber) is one of the least effective cartridges available. The average muzzle engery ratings are in the 65 foot pound range, which is actually less than some .22 shorts.

The term is neutrally defensive.

If you are properly trained in self-defense, you can use it to fight back against an attempted robber. Self-defense classes will teach you more than I can teach you online, but basically you'll learn different holds and ways to catch an attacker off guard. I would recommend self-defense classes to anyone!
