America was mandated to respond and to respond quickly. The American public demanded it and the Cheney/Bush White House selected Iraq for an immediate response. A probable error and wasted effort and focus but obedient Military Commanders stood up, saluted and engaged the enemy at the command of the Commander in Chief.

Afghanistan was placed on the back burner. Technology would cover the gap that boots on the ground could not cover. Technology failed and the core Al Qaeda's leadership slipped into the Hindu Kush. The War on Terror was lost before the first shot was fired. The wrong target had been selected. The wrong strategy had been applied and the tactics failed to put Boots on the Groundwhere they were needed.
The Home-front was even more confusing. Because intelligence had possibly been mishandled a new bureaucracy called the Department of Homeland Security was created. Airport security was tightened. Today that responsibility is in the hands of corporate America under contract. Port facilities remain a point of concern. Borders still leak like a sieve. Has Homeland Security made America more secure, possibly not.
The military is seeing increased mental health issues resulting from second, third and even more tours of duty and that can't make the nation more secure.
The Anthrax letters that were in the mail still has not been resolved and that can't make the nation more secure.
Troops are still maimed and killed by IED's and that can't make the nation more secure.
Gasoline prices remain unstable and that can't make the nation more secure.

Did the twins tower collapse from a plane?
When the planes hit the towers, the impact of the crash caused significant damage to the columns of the structures. They fire, very hot fire mind you, and fire balls created from the crash and explosion weakened much of the structure construction. All of the top portion that was weakened could no longer sustain itself and bore down on the rest of the structure thereafter. This caused the tower to collapse.

Because Mr. Obama is President of the United States, not the President of the world. The crime for which Mr. Bin Laden was wanted (and hunted) was for his crime against the people of the US, not any other crimes. The people and communities that helped and sheltered Bin Laden for a decade were not going to give him up without a fight. Whether the US military personnel involved could have extracted Bin Laden alive instead of killing him is known only by those individuals that were on the scene that night.

Yes, these terrorists are barbarous and savage. 9/11 is only one such incidence where many innocent people lost either their own lifes or the lifes of their loved ones.
But it feels really bad when someone who claims to be the protector of humanity (America) itself is responsible for the largest displays of terrorism in the history. After 9-11 the world (mostly New York) all lived in devistation after what happened. The people didn't feel safe, and many people wondered when the terrorists would strike again.
Yes, and it also gave the US the green light to invade Iraq and Afghanistan for its oil interests, as well as causing the deaths of a near 4 million people in these countries, supposedly to "compensate" for the 1700 killed in the 9/11 attacks. Let us not of course forget the sheer weight of evidence suggesting that it was an inside job....

"Aliens" as in non-American human beings who shouldn't have been allowed into the United States? Yes. Some of them were, in fact, "illegal aliens" from Egypt. Several of them had been allowed into the USA, but had overstayed their visas, and should have been arrested and deported.

Well thousands and thousands of jet fuel were in the gaping hole and as the supports started getting weaker from the blazing fire when one floor collapsed the weight got a lot more heavy and the heavier it got and not to mention the speed both planes went into the buildings cause when it hit it tore through some of the main supports.
