How do you tighten presser foot lock on Kenmore sewing machine 158-19412?
This is from the manual I have -
Push down on the outer ring of the pressure regulator. (located at the top & left round knob, of the machine) This will release the pressure on the presser foot.
To increase the pressure, push down inner pin until a suitable pressure is obtained.
Insufficient pressure may cause poor feeding of the fabric, skipped stiches, or difficulty in guiding the fabric. If feed dogs or presser foot marks appear on the fabric, reduce the pressure.
When sewing multiple thickness or heavy fabric, reudce the pressure.
Increase pressure when sewing lighter weight fabrics.

Why can't pixie hollow membership be free?
Unfortunately, there are so many employees that need to be paid for their hard work, including the fee they have to pay in order to keep Pixie Hollow up. In fact, it's a possibility that they have to pay a million dollars every year in total cost. This is why the membership thing has gotten so big. Happily, the current updates are awesome because now membership doesn't get you much at all. Yes, membership is the best route, but if you cannot afford to pay for it, you still have far more options than back in 2010.
Why is your bobbin thread being cut in one inch intervals?
Your tension is too tight. To adjust your tension, thread your machine and sew a test piece. It should be perfectly even within the test piece. If the threads are not centered, adjust your tension wheel and re sew until the threads align. See your owner's manual for instructions.
Engine ticking like a sewing machine. Ticking stops when we unplugged cylinder 4 spark plug?
We purchased a 2001 Grand Prix 3.1 70000 miles. Dealership replaced lower intake gaskets due to slight seeping upon purchase. Did not appear to be a concern.. Shortly there after there is a ticking sound (like a sewing machine) coming from the engine. Loudest during idle and when engines cold. Much quieter and occasional when driving. Added sea foam to the oil, and did an oil change...no change. No fluid leaks, runs great. Local shop listened to it, and instantly said the engine was shot. Having a heard time grasping this. We decided to check the spark plugs. Ticking stopped when we unpulled the spark plug on cylinder 4, started again when replugged. Could it be anything other then a shot engine...like it said it runs perfect. Any ideas??

Sewing thread consumption formula?
Calculation:
•Needle thread factor = 9 ¸ 3 = 3 inches of needle thread per inch of seam.
•Looper thread factor = 8 ¸ 3 = 2.67 inches of looper thread per inch of seam.
•Total needle thread consumed = factor 3 X 1.17yds = 3.51 yds
•Total looper thread consumed = factor 2.67 X 1.17yds = 3.12 yds
•Total Thread = 3.51 + 3.12 = 6.63 yards per seam.
•Generally, a 15 to 20% waste factor is added due to chaining-off, thread breaks, repairs, etc.
•If a waste factor of 15% is selected then:
•6.63 yards/seam X 1.15 = 7.62 yards/seam including 15% waste factor
Your serial number is off -- there should be at least one prefex before the number - one prefex puts it 1930 or lower and 2 Prefexis puts it at 1940 and up. You can go to the Singer site (link below) and find the year. Good luck!

How do you braid your hair before a sew in?
this may not be your choice of answer, but when i get sew ins, i usually leave a narrow square of hair out(to be flat ironed and blended with the weave) and the rest of the hair horizontally, into sort of a mohawk. braid all braids till the very end. after, i use a curved needle and thread to sew the ends of the hair horizontally across the braids, so after your braids should resemble straight lines. then i sew human hair weave on, and flat iron. and i bond bangs in the front. REALLY CUTE.!
another way is to braid your hair in a circle...a spiral, until there is no more hair. start from the sides of hair, working your way in a big circle, then a smaller one, and so on, so forth. i would recommend using a closure at the end of the circle to make it appear real.
