When you say power surges, are you referring to the engines surging, or the equipment jerking? If its the engine doing so, then chances are you have debris in your carb, coming from stale or old fuel, or even moisture. Before cleaning the carb, check for intake manifold air leaks; make sure connections are tight. Air leaks can also cause surging. Next thing is look for a mixture screw. If you find one, richen the mixture about 1/4 turn at a time. If a full turn doesn't help, then you've got to remove and clean the carb.

If its the equipment does it, the jerk I mean, after the machine gets warm, idlers that have bearings going bad can do that, or a belt stretching will do so. If its the belt though, don't be cheap. Don't go buy a car belt thinking they are the same, they aren't..lawnmower belts use Kevlar or thermmoid, because they go thru shock load, because of the start and stop; automobiles don't...lawnmower belts cost more, but are worth it..

The mix ratio is 50:1, but be sure to use a good 2 cycle oil such as Husqvarna's or Echo's. Do use a motor boat or motorcycle 2 cycle oil. Those are not rated for the small engines like used in the 141 chainsaw. Best bet is to buy the oil at a reliable mower shop.

But you can use a float charger there perfectly safe.

it depends on your charger. most chargers have several amp settings to choose from. mine has settings for 2, 10, 25, 40, and 200 amps for jump starting. as long as you make sure the volts, 6 or 12, are right it will charge it.

Both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines have a carburetor.

remove plug, use a compresion gauge or put your finger over plug hole, crank engine, if your finger feels like it was being sucked in and then blowen out , its fine, bad compression will give you very little suction, or blow out, could be valves are leaking also,

it's just under the oil injection pump on right side of engine , it's bolted to frame of sled... square looking and has wires coming out of it.. hope this helps..

i use a small 1 on my 1/8 of a mile driveway or when its being gay my shovel, what im trying to say is it depends on how quick u want to get it done with you dont need a big one a smaller 1 would be fine

You purchase a Briggs & Stratton repair manual, and go from there.

Remove the valve covers and using the appropriate feeler guage rotate the crank until each valve is in the fully closed position and slide the feeler between the rocker arm and the valve stem. Adjust until the feeler fits snugly but can still slide in and out by loosening the jam nut on the rocker and turning the adjusting nut. You need to hold the adjusting nut still while you tighten the jam nut.

Because of the inconsistant revving and the puffs of black smoke, I would say that the air filter is clogged and/or the spark plug needs replacing. Else, the carburetor is set too rich or the choke is sticking.
