The book says for opposed engines without oil filter, it's approximately 1 & 1/2 quarts. If it does have an oil filter, then it's approximately 1 & 3/4 quarts.

Briggs and Stratton Motor:aluminum cylinder bore compression ring end gap should be no more than .035 inches (.89mm)

Oil ring end gap should be no more than .045 inches (1.14mm)

Cast iron cylinder bores compression ring end gap should be no more than .030 Inches (.76mm)

Oil ring should be no more than .035 inches (.89mm)

Ive got the same motor and sled and i recently rebuilt mine and i called Ski-doo who gave the following specs

primary clutch 60-74 FT that's all i needed torque wise.

i have talked to a cub cadet rep,and he states the flywheel key shearing is do to not tighly tightened flywheel bolt..

I have cub cadet 1042 that keeps shearing the key to the flywheel. I replaced 3 keys. I don't see any damage or marks on the teeth of the starter or flywheel. Motor spins freely by hand. What could be causing this? If your Cub Cadet LT1042 was made in 2005 or 2006 there is a engineering flaw in the engine short block. It is caused by the block cracking. Look at the engine in front looking toward the rear of the tractor. Now to the left of the engine down around where the cylinder head meets the case there could be a hair line crack running the length of the case. If this happened you are loosing vacuum that makes the fuel pump work. If there is a crack take it to any Cub Cadet dealer and they will replace the entire engine at NO cost. I just went through it with a dealer in Ohio, one refused to help but Northcoast equipment in Kingsville, OH bent over backward to solve this problem that I was having for 2 years,

You can cut down trees with your lawnmower. Warning: Do not actually try to cut down a tree with your lawnmower. More than likely, the gas in the chainsaw is mixed with 2-cycle oil. If your mower also has a 2-cycle engine, nothing will happen. If your mower has a 4-cycle engine, the engine will probably smoke (bluish in color) until the oil is burnt up during combustion. At worst, the oil in the 2-cycle oil/gas mixture will foul up the spark plug and you will probably have to clean it pretty often until the oil is burnt up.

Coastal gas station on Harris Street in Charlottesville sells non-ethanol gas. I got this info and the station address on-line yesterday (19 Oct 2010) and verified by going there and filling up. This is the only place I've found in the Charlottesville general area since Sam's discontinued non-ethanol about six months ago. I am assuming you mean with the auto engine running. Yes, that is possible but you are putting a strain on the alternator of the car. An alternator is not designed to charge a dead battery. It is designed to keep a charged battery fully charged.

as long as the ATV battery is the same voltage as the car battery, usually 12 volts, you can charge it, or jump start the atv and let it charge the battery itself.

The rope could have been cut off making it too short . The rope rotor ,that holds the rope could be worn and if it is a 4-stroke engine the flywheel key that actually times the engine could be partially sheared , causing the timing to be off .

i am guessing they are not. i bought a 3 wheel motorized thing because the seller assured me it was street legal. after some problems, the dept of motor vehicles allowed me to register and license the vehicle even thou it's top speed is about 35 mph. i was not told i could not use it on the highway but some friends suggested i might have a problem if the sheriff or hwy patrol came up on me. I'm not sure why speed is a consideration since bicycles are permitted on highways and may be traveling at less than 15 mph. i would love to drive a cart to monticello to the grocery store as i am only a couple of miles outside the city limits. laws should make sense so if it is unsafe to drive a cart on a road pecause of speed limits, it should also be against the law to ride a bicycle.
