If you have 12 volt output on the engine it can be done. Hook the engine 12 volt output to the positive side of your meter and ground the other side back to the engine block. When you start the engine the meter will run and when you shut it down the meter stops. Many newer snow blowers that a 12 volt output for lighting whether lighting was put on the blower or not.

I use Pennzoil Ultra 10W-30 when the temperature is 32 degrees Fahrenheit and hotter and Pennzoil Ultra 5W-30 32 degrees Fahrenheit and colder.
Briggs & Stratton recommends SAE 30 weight in the summer and SAE 10w30 in the winter. I highly recommend you use Synthetic oil in any air cooled engine.

set the cylinder to tdc on valve overlap. remove the valve cover. you may leak a small amount of oil so have a container to catch it or a rag to wipe it up. loosen the outer nut, turn the inner screw in or out to the valve lash setting as checked with a feeler gauge. while holding the inner screw from moving, tighten the outer nut and recheck the setting. after it is set, turn the motor over a few times by hand if possible and check the setting again
