How much does a DNA test cost?

DNA TestsA DNA test for paternity analysis costs somewhere in the region of $200.

If you require the test to be admissible in court, which is often required in cases of child support or disputed paternity, the costs go up. Some say to $500 or $600. (According to one FAQ Farmer: "I've just had a fully legally binding DNA test, following a dispute with my wife with regard to access to my 3 year old daughter. The test cost me nearly $500. I would have paid near half that if I didn't require a legally binding result.")

This additional cost is associated with the need to demonstrate a chain of custody for all of the samples tested. Before selecting a laboratory for testing there are a number of things one should consider, the most important being the quality of testing provided.

Some U.S. companies like DNACENTER.com offer a wide variety of tests that can be used in court or for personal knowledge. When ordering a test from an online company, always check their accreditation's or if they come recommended by media sources, like news and television.

a dna test cost $200 dollars.

Smoking during pregnancy can result in?

Low birth weight of the baby, and respiratory diseases

^that is true. However, the respitory diseases, is not true. My mother smoked for me, my brother and one of my sissters.. A pack a day. Then on her last child. My mom quit smokeing the whole pregnancy. And none of us had breathing problems ecept for the last child. Who spends most her time hooked to an oxegen tank, because her lungs were weaker... Babies born from a smoking mom have beeen proven 7/8 to have stronger lungs then a baby born from a non-smoker. Because their lungs must work harder!

When should you first see your gynecologist with your pregnancy?

As soon as you find out that you are pregnant, you should call your ob-gyn or health care provider if you don't have an ob. Most doctors will want to see you around 8 - 10 weeks if you are having a "normal" pregnancy (i.e. no fertility drugs, low risk, no bleeding/cramping). If you aren't taking a prenatal vitamin already, your doctor will make sure you start - you need extra folate when you are pregnant to reduce the risk of neural tube defects.

Are panic attacks dangerous while your pregnant?

I SUGGEST TYPING IN THE WORD PANICK ATTACKS AND SEE WHAT YOU COME UP WITH. IT IS A START. Panic attacks during pregnancy is extremely common. It is also common in women going through perimenopause and finally menopause and it's due to chemical changes (hormonal) in the body. During pregnancy your blood sugars can be high, low, and other strange things can happen. My girlfriend who was pregnant many years ago with her first child just got panic attacks while having a shower. She stated she was worried about drowning. I told her to have a bath or a sink wash until she felt more confident to take a bath or shower. During pregnancy as you know one can have strange cravings to go along with everything else. A pregnant woman can go into fits of tears over seemingly nothing, depressed, feeling ugly and large feel like they are packing 200 pounds around when she really doesn't look that bad at all. Magazines and the media DO NOT help new mothers and instead put fear into them. They warn them of all the things that CAN happen to their baby even before they are born. Of course the standard is, see your doctor when you should for checkups, don't drink alcohol or too much caffeine, eat well, take some vitamins, exercise, etc. Other than that women have been having babies since the beginning of time and most are healthy chubby little cuties and there is no reason your baby won't be healthy. Stop reading too many magazines or baby books or listening to people that love to tell you their 'horror stories of giving birth.' Remember that each woman is different and she has several choices to give birth which she should discuss with her doctor. No, panic attacks are not dangerous while you are pregnant, but they are exhausting so between being pregnant (makes you very tired at times) and the stress of panic attacks the two will slow your energy level to stop and may cause you some depression because of the frustration of it all. I suffered from panic attacks in the 1970s and I know they aren't pleasant. Sometimes it's genetic and sometimes hormonal. These attacks will probably pass sometime before the birth of your baby or after the birth. Please discuss this with your doctor and see what he/she thinks of a medication you may be able to take while pregnant. You could also seek counseling as some pregnant women do. I don't normally recommend someone going to their doctor while pregnant to go onto medications, but, panic attacks will keep you extremely lethargic and far more depressed than you need to be. You will not die from panic attacks. You will not have a heart attack. A large percentage of people will suffer at least one to two panic attacks in their lifetime (sometimes brushed off as anxiety attacks.) If you would like more information on panic attacks please go onto my Private Message Board and I will research it for you. Congratulations early!

What does smoking do to the fetus?

A.)

All the things about smoking that hurt you (the mother) hurt the baby. The babies heart and lungs will be affected greatly. If you are a heavy smoker and the baby actually survives birth (most pregnant smokers give still-births*), the child will suffer from a weak heart resulting in many circulation issues accompanied with an increased risk of heart failure. The babies lungs will start out rotten and tar filled, resulting in easy infections, asthma, emphysema, pneumonia, and countless other respiratory problems. The baby is most likely to be born underweight and will have to be incubated, a terrifying thing for any mother. The child has a high chance of being born with an addiction to nicotine (like is babies born to crack or heroin addicts), radically increasing the chances that the child itself will become a smoker.

Once again, what hurts you hurts the baby. You may smoke after the baby is born however second hand smoking is one of the leading causes of addiction and lung cancer in the United States.

Can smoking and drinking affect your pregnancy as early as two weeks?

Your baby develops the fastest during the first trimester - especially the first few weeks. Smoking and drinking during the first few weeks of pregnancy can effect the baby.

Smoking while pregnant increases the mother's risk of having a miscarriage. It also decreases the mother's folic acid which increases the risk for neural tube defects. Smoking during pregnancy can lead to a baby that is small for his gestational age.

Drinking during pregnancy is also linked to an increase risk of having a miscarriage. Additionally, alcohol is associated with fetal alcohol syndrome and the baby could suffer possible fetal abnormalities.

It's safest for the mother and her baby if the mother develops a healthy lifestyle before she becomes pregnant. If you are already pregnant, take the necessary steps to improve your health as soon as possible so your baby doesn't suffer any consequences.

If you've been asked to do a DNA test to verify a family relationship how would a simple DNA test like this be done and how much would it cost?

AnswerDepending on where you live a DNA test can range from $150.00 to $500.00 but you should check your phone book or on-line for local agencies and the fees. The most typical DNA test are a blood sample drawn from two or more of the parties involved or a saliva sample from your mouth, it is drawn with a cottom swob. Both are very accurate and result time is around the same. The saliva is usually cheaper. People prefer the blood test but your saliva contains as much of your DNA as your blood does. In my case, it was a paternity issue and we did both types. Our pictures were taken and both times samples were drawn from all three of us (my child, the father & myself) they take the DNA markings and compair them to the other parties. The similarities in markings determine the relation. Good look.

In India it cost 11500 for standard test. It is important to know about number of markers are being tested? To get the 100% accurate results, every sample needs to be run atleast 3 times as Eastern Biotech does.

Why is smoking bad for your body?

Smoking will deposit huge amounts of tar inside your lungs. This causes damage and will never come out. It will make breathing more difficult and shorten your lifespan. Smoking also gets tar into your bloodstream, which will make you become ill, wrinkled, and pale, as well as causing dangerous liver damage. You will also develop lung disease, which is incurable and causes a slow and painful death.

If you smoke people around you can accidentally inhale it, possibly giving lung cancer to your friends, family, or even children. Also, the odor of smoke stays on your person and clothes and is very difficult to get out, making you smell terrible. You may loose friends and partners, and you may not be able to go to restaurants, movies, get on planes, etc.

Once you begin smoking it is extremely difficult to quit (even if you only tried smoking once).

How do you get rid of vaginal strep if you are 37 weeks' pregnant and can it affect you partner?

Group B Strep will probably not cause any problem for the mother or the partner, many, many people carry it, are unaware and never have a problem. It's most commonly found in the intestines (men and women) although also if found in the vagina. It's completely normal in the intestines and vagina, and doesn't need treating. So far no antibiotics have been found which will reliably eradicate it from the body, which is why group B Strep found on a vaginal or rectal swab isn't treated during pregnancy. Although group B Strep found in a urine sample should be treated when it's found.

The time when antibiotics are effective against group B Strep infection in babies is when they're given intravenously (through a vein) to mothers whose babies are at higher risk of developing group B Strep infection, from the start of their labour and at intervals until delivery. It's around labour and delivery that the baby is more likely to be exposed to group B Strep and, if susceptible, develop infection. So, as soon as labour start or your waters break, go directly to the hospital and you will be put on antibiotics. The antibiotics will pass into the baby and help protect it. If you have the baby very quickly, before the antibiotics get into it, the baby may need antibiotics given after birth, but otherwise you should both be ok. See:

How much will someone save a month if they quit smoking?

I depends on how much you smoke. Let's say a person smokes 1 pack each day. A pack of cigarrettes cost about $3 (also depends on the brand). So 3 X 31 days = $93 save if that person stops smoking. That's $1116 per year and if a person smokes until they die (supposing they started smoking when they turned 18 and lived until the age of 60), they will have spend about $46,872.

WOW! That is enough money for a nice down payment on a house or 2 nice vehicles, or what a typical middle class person makes in 1 year.

Encourage all of your friends and family to quit smoking so they can live long enough to enjoy the savings.

Can smoking while pregnant cause Asperger's Syndrome or autism?

No, smoking while pregnant does not cause Autism.

Autism is a neurological difference, being born Autistic does not mean that you were supposed to be born neurotypical and your brain went wrong due to your mothers actions while pregnant with you. Autism is believed to be primarily genetic, it comes down to parents genes.

What are the risks of smoking while pregnant?

Smoking has harmful chemicals called nicotine and carbon monoxide. These chemicals make the mother's blood less able to carry oxygen and food to the baby. When You Smoke During Pregnancy * There is a greater chance for miscarriage * You may have a small, sick baby * Your baby may be at greater risk for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) * Your baby may be earlier than expected * Your baby may be at greater risk of being born with a cleft palate Did You Know... * After just one day of not smoking, your baby will get more oxygen. Each day that you don't smoke you are helping your baby grow! * Inhaling secondhand smoke can be just as harmful to your baby as smoking. If you partner or someone you live with smokes, talk about ways to make your home smoke free. * It is a myth that quitting smoking while pregnant will cause too much stress fro your baby. It is more stressful to your body and more harmful to you and your baby to continue smoking.
Prematurity, low birth weight, heart defects and oxygen deprivation.

When did you conceive if your ultrasound said you were 31 weeks and 1 day on April 13?

There is no way to pinpoint that exactly from an ultrasound done after the first six to twelve weeks. 3rd trimester ultrasounds are notoriously unreliable for measuring the size and age of the fetus.

Your last menstrual period was likely in the first half of September. Conception was likely to be late September or early October.

If you were unaware that you are pregnant and you were self-inducing vomiting during the first 2 weeks of your pregnancy will this harm your baby or cause a miscarriage?

You and the baby should be fine. But if this is a normal thing you do a lot, you should get some help so it doesn't continue during pregnancy. It could harm the baby if you are throwing up and not getting any nutrition to the baby. If it was just for those two weeks, you should be fine. Just stop doing it now that you know.

Smoking can affect the unborn fetus in many ways. The amount of oxygen getting to the fetus is limited, and therefore, the fetus will starve of oxygen. The oxygen will e replaced with carbon monoxide, which will travel to the baby. Smoking is a silent murderer. Kill the smoke before the smoke kills you.
