Supply and Demand. Condition matters but age doesn't. Most collections have albums that are worth more than the stamps within them. When you give it up or die, the truth comes out that you'd be lucky to get face value for most of the lot. Collect only for enjoyment rather than investment. Be happy.

According to the USPS web site the "H" rate stamp has the rooster on the weather vane and was a 1-cent make-up stamp issued November 19, 1998.

Identify the exact stamp using a catalog. This could involve learning about perforations, watermarks and colors as well as condition. The catalog will provide a value. The value is what a collector could expect to pay for a stamp in fine/very fine condition. If selling, most cases you would be lucky to get 75% of the catalog, unless it is very valuable, then an auction would be worth looking into. Dealers would be able to take a look at the overall collection and make an offer. Find a local dealer throught the American Stamp Dealers' Association. You'll have to identify the stamp, as the date 1836 must refer to some anniversary. The earliest US stamp is 1847.

Use a catalog online or from your local library to identify the stamp. It will also provide some idea of what the value is.

Scott # 1095 Full sheet with First Day cancellation. Individually, the stamps can be purchased used for .15 each. As a sheet with FDC cancellation, the value would be difficult to determine. It is an unusual item and could get 10 or 20 dollars from a dealer.

I used to collect coins and one of the things that i learned was that any misprint on any bill significantly increases the value of that bill. I reccommend that you take it to some kind of coin show or even a coin store and check it out.

A-Stamp means a rubber like personlized message. This allow's the user to quickly apply the information they want created to easily be placed where necessary. Example, many companies or school's use A-Stamp's for address's, or signature's. Another possibility is that this phrase may be used to differentiate A-Stamp from several stamps, those stamps, or more stamps than that. The rubber stamp answer is probably closer to being correct.

The A rate Postage Stamp

Face value refers to the value that is printed on the face of the stamp.

Better answer: Generally the post office can reject the letter if it has a foreign postage stamp. However, they can't if it has return address in the country where your stamp is from. Major organizations do this postage shopping, so it could almost be called an industry practice. Sometimes the IRS mails letters with British stamps to American abroad, when the correspondence itself is directly from the Austin, TX campus (answers to form W-7 "Application for Taxpayer Identification Number"). Harvard Business Services from Lewes, Delaware is also known to mail letter with French stamps that have a French return address but where sent from the US. I have also myself mailed letter from different countries with American stamps. The key was always to use a US return address. Then the letter was always delivered to the correct recipient in the US without any issues. I also once mailed a letter from Germany to the UK, using a Royal Mail stamp I purchased off the Internet.

Try and see if it works for you. Drop the letters in a mailbox; it will be unnecessary to talk to the post office clerk since probably they have no idea and they have to ask their co-workers and you will be wasting their time because 90% of the time they will take the letter even if they are unsure. Been there, done that.

Even plates blocks of this stamp are still worth just face value to a dealer and not many dealers would want to make a $0. 24 cent deal.

Scott # 2721 It was also issued as a part of a block of 4. Mint they can cost about 50 or 60 cents each. I believe they are in a sheet of 50, so the value would be about about $30 dollars. If you sell them they might bring $20. Consult a postage stamp catalog, usually available at your local library for exact identification and catalog values.

I would expect something like this would be worth a few dollars. There are three different types of this stamp, so make sure you know which one you have, as they were issued at different times. Roy Rogers was a generous signer right to the end of his long life, so there's an ample supply of signed material available. Over here in the UK authentically signed Roy Rogers 8" x 10" photographs can be found for as little as £25.

American collectors would call that U.S. Scott number 1250. It has a catalog value of 20 cents, mint or used.
