Scot 647 is an overprint in celebration of Hawaii's discovery. It has a good value in good condition, used being available for $4.75 and mint for $9. A dealer might pay about 25% of that if they are in really good condition.

A 1 cent Thomas Jefferson stamp is probably not worth the effort to sell. If it hasn't been used it is worth 1 cent of postage. Otherwise you can buy one for 20 cents. Most dealers aren't going to waste their time buying a single low value stamp, too much work involved to have an profit.

25 cents was never the standard postage rate in Australia, but 25 cent stamps have been issued from 1966 until 2006. The standard postage rate went from 24 cents to 27 cents in April 1982.

There is a whole set of these in different colors and denominations and different portraits of Washington. The Scott numbers are 704-715. 2009 retail value for the setwas given as $21.55 mint and $2.70 used for very find copies. Most of the value in the mint case is in the 10 cent stamp which is valued at $10. In the used case, the 8-center at 50 cents is the only one worth more than the minimum.

Yes, the shape can have an affect on the cost. Large 'flats' require a premium due to size. And square envelopes are considered 'odd' and will need more postage. Consult the USPS web site for specifics and current costs.

I do not find any such stamp listed in the US catalog. There have only been four 1 1/2 cent stamps and Franklin was not on one of them. Special cancellations and different values are likely to be worth more. Consult a postage stamp catalog, usually available at your local library for exact identification and catalog values.

The value is what a collector could expect to pay for a stamp in fine/very fine condition. One of the important factors in listing stamps is to only include stamps that were issued for legitimate postage use. There are many countries that have created and printed stamps specifically to sell to collectors. They print hundreds of thousands of stamps well above the needs of the population of the country. These types of stamps are seldom listed in the catalogs.
