Is woodfield high school a scam?
Woodfield is not only a diploma mill, but it is part of the huge conglomeration of diploma mills including Belford University. They are the worst type of diploma mill -- operating from Pakistan and UAE. They are the worst of the worst!
The following from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) -
Based on BBB files, this business has a BBB Rating of F on a scale from A+ to F. Reasons for this F rating include:
* 173 complaints filed against business
* Failure to respond to 172 complaints filed against business
From the company....
Woodfield University is an online educational institute that offers degree programs for prior learning and life experience. There is nothing fake here; the university provides students exactly what the website claims. Prior learning is a relatively new concept so there is very little clarity over the topic among the general public which might confuse some people. Prior learning is a phrase used to describe a person's prior knowledge, talents and skills acquired through self learning, working, or any other source. The concept is to acknowledge the contributions of the people who do not have a college degree but have experience and knowledge acquired through years of hard working.

Woodfield advertises that you can receive a diploma/degree within 15 days. The Better Business Bureau (see the Related Link below) says this type of educational institution is a diploma mill, and that legitimate schools or employers won't recognize these "life experiences" credentials for continuing education nor employment. BEWARE!! See the Related Question and Related Links below

What is the typical overall stopping distance at 40mph?
120ft.
I discovered a formula for calculating it for any given speed. I've tested it for 20mph, 30mph,40mph,50mph,60mph and 70mph. The formula is as follows:
overall stopping distance in ft = Sp x (1 + Sp/20).
Where Sp is the magnitude of the speed in mph.
So at 40mph it is:
40 x (1 + 40/20) = 50 x (1 + 2) = 40 x 3 = 120ft.
Much of the curriculum is now based on the standardized testing and as a result many students are not getting a well rounded curriculum. Two subjects are being taught in most schools and they are reading and math. The books are based on the test and the teachers are told that they have to cut art, music, recess, social studies, science to prepare the classes for the testing. The tests are not based on child development or theories of learning so as a consequence they are testing students on advanced learning that they are unable grasp. The tests are testing primary students using abstract thinking questions and they are in concrete thinking modality. This means the student is unable to understand the concepts or retain the information. A fifth grade student in CA is required to know the periodic table of elements and how to read a chemical formula . When giving the test, it takes a week, most students are crying and upset by the third day of testing. They give up, draw pictures with the answer bubbles, or mark "C" on every question. They know they can't answer the questions because the questions aren't made to be answered. If too many students start to get too many questions correct the testing company changes the questions so they can't pass. The test is designed for the students and the teachers to fail. As a teacher I don't mind having my students tested, but the test should be fair and it should be written so my students can answer the questions to show what they know. The tests today do not do this and our children's education is suffering because of it. This doesn't improve learning it does the opposite. A new factor is now starting in education and it will effect the children to a larger degree. Because of the problems with many state budgets the school districts are now pushing older teachers out of the system and hiring interns. The interns are people who have not completed teacher education and are paid less than a regular teacher. The consequence of this will be whole school systems will have new teachers on staff, but won't have mentors on the staff to help them. They won't have the theories of education and learning or the background needed to teach classes of 30 students per grade. Add the testing to this and many children will fall behind in their learning and not have the skills as they move into each grade. As a parent you have the right to have your child not tested with the state mandated testing. This is something the state doesn't want you to know because teachers are told before testing not to tell you. I am breaking that rule as I write this. To have your child removed from state testing all you have to do is write a statement stating that you don't want your child tested and sign it. I hope I have answered your question, but you would like to know more please drop me a note on here.

Are national computer science academy certifications worth while?
It depends on your definition of "Worth While". Sure, you can take a test and become certified in your IT field, but will this cert mean anything to potential employers? Corporate businesses like Best Buy look at well founded program certifications, like CompTIA A+ certification. If you bring in a certification from NCSA, you may simply leave them scratching there heads wondering who you have been dealing with. But here is the flip side:
I own an IT business, and are A+ and Network+ certified. None of my customers have any idea what that means, they just like to know that Im a "Certified" technician (As if it really means anything anyhow). So what if I saved my time and money, paid 34 dollars for a NCSA cert, and told my customers that im a certified tech. They would be happy just the same.

How do test companies try to trick students on standardized tests?
They don't try to trick you. They do try to make you think before you answer, so some of the questions must be read carefully before you choose an answer.
Does the Kumon tutoring program help with SHSAT prep?
Nope. Kumon is a program designed to make you repetitively learn mathematics and English. In other words, they drill you. The shsat is a thinking test, not a test of the same questions. Therefore, you need to learn, in your math, how to think in different ways. As a rule of thumb, your math should be at psat level, and your English varies. For scrambled paragraphs, make your own essays, and figure out why they flow to the next sentence. As for your logical reasoning, omgpop.com. who said studying cant be fun? And as for your reading, go to the library. Good luck!
