There is a web loop on the passenger side seat cushion in the gap between the seat and back cushions, just pull the loop and the seat bottom releases forward. Use a ratchet to unbolt exposed anchors. That removes the whole seat back. At that point, swing the seat back to one side and use a screwdriver to unlatch the seat back from the broken seat release. Remove the seat back. At this point you have a 2 passenger car. That's how I roll.

Perhaps a dealer can fix the latch mechanism inside the seat.

Instructions: There is a #70 torx bolt in the transmission to drain the fluid. You will need to purchase a new transmission bolt washer from the dealer before removing the bolt. Place a drain pan under the car and remove the bolt. Drain the fluid, replace the washer on the drain bolt, clean the drain bolt, reinstall the the drain bolt and fill with the same amount of Subaru transmission fluid that you drained. This should be around 3.5 to 4 quarts. If the transmission fluid has not been changed for a long time, drive the car and then repeat this process two more times. This is to change fluid trapped in the transmission. Not all of the fluid comes out each time the transmission is drained.

On some models the filter is on the side of the transmission and can be spun off and changed. on other models it is internal. The manual states internal filter does not need to be changed.

There are round knobs on the top of the seat backs on each side. Pull up on one and the push the back of the seat forward.

I have a 97 Impreza, and it should have 3 catalytic converters, but I took one off, and never put it back on, and my car runs just fine, so my answer is don't worry about it.

Check your brakes every 6 months to see what type of wear and tear is happening. Of course if you hear a metal grinding or feel a shimmy in the front end have them checked at that time. Newer cars have sensors that indicate when brakes are bad. I usually have my brakes checked when I have my tires changed, about once a year. Depending on the amount of driving you do this could vary. Brakes have a 'squeal' factor to them, also. If you hear a high pitched squeal when you step on the brakes, it is an indicator that they should be checked and probably replaced. Dealerships check the brakes at the same time they do tuneups. Next time you take the car in, ask for a list of the items they check at the tune up times. Most check every 15,000 miles, or about once a year.

If I were asking here it would mean I have never changed brakes before. Although the process is fairly simple you can do things wrong that would prevent the brakes from working properly. Your first time needs to be with the oversight of someone who has changed brakes before. Better yet, have a qualified mechanic do it for you. Your life and the lives of others may hang in the balance.

You first must take off the plastic trim of the dash that st around the shiter knob. itl just pop off. then unbolt the two screws holding the cubby underneath the cigarette lighter. there will also bee two screws you must remove that sit facing up above where the ash tray is; remove that by pressing the lever that's inside the ashtray down and pulling it out. now you can pop off the main plastic face plate. remove both wire harness that attach to the cigar lighter. now unbolt the four screws (two on each side of the center console tower) and the two below the stereo and boxes. now the whole center tower will come out and you can remove the screws that hold the stereo in place.

It could be the oxygen sensors, or some other part of the emission control system (you should have a sticker about this on the underside of the hood). However, because the cruise control light is flashing its more likely that it is some sort of electrical issue.

According to one post I read, but can't find now (with excellent instructions) it specifies 17.4 ft./lb. or 24 n-M. I was informed by an experienced mechanic that you should go a bit lower to start with since knock sensors are fairly sensitive to over-tightening and may render useless if stressed too hard. Say 3-4 ft./lb. less to start with.

Throttle position sensor on this vehicle is held on by two screws. It's a 10 minute job.

Are your lights automatic or do you have to turn them on??? If there automatic then you need to turn the knob to the left of the steering wheel and turn it to "Off" and its the same if there not automatic too.
