What does the triple antigen vaccine prevent?
There are different kinds of triple antigen vaccines. A triple antigen vaccine is one made with three different antigens (often three virus strains). The seasonal flu vaccines are examples of triple antigen vaccines, because they contain vaccines against the three influenza viruses most prominent and most likely to spread that season. These are also called Triple Valent or Trivalent vaccines. Another example is the MMR trivalent vaccine made to vaccinate against Measles, Mumps, and Rubella. Several of the childhood vaccinations are this type of trivalent vaccine.
Immunization from a vaccination or from having had that exact type of flu will give you lifetime immunity. However, because viruses tend to mutate into other kinds of flu, your body may not recognize the germs as the same and then you would need protection from the new mutated virus, too.
The 2010-2011 seasonal flu vaccination in the US contains the H1N1/09 vaccine along with vaccine for two other kinds of flu. If you had the swine flu vaccine last season, then it will not hurt you to take the vaccine again when you get the seasonal flu vaccination and it might help.
Can you reuse an N95 face mask if using it to protect you from viruses?
Not if you are wearing it to protect you from viruses or other sub-microscopic pathogens or pollution/fumes. These N95 masks are more like respirators than a cloth or paper surgical mask. None of these should be reused when used for medical purposes, they should be thrown away after each use since they may harbor some of the filtered particles on the outside that could contaminate people or environments. They can not be washed for reuse, either, this will potentially deform or disintegrate the mask rendering it ineffective. N95 masks must also be medically fit to your face or they will not be effective. They are not recommended for children or those with beards or mustaches because that can allow gaps for particles to enter around the mask. See more in the related questions section.
Why is Spanish influenza not remembered?
It is not well remembered by the general public because it happened during WW1 in 1918 and most people who lived at that time are not still alive to remember. Those that are still alive might be over 90 years old with memory problems due to the aging process. Infectious disease specialists and epidemiologists do remember it and some continue to study it.
Spanish Influenza is still part of the curriculum in British schools. In the US it is briefly discussed in history classes, but not a lot of classroom time is devoted to it anymore.
One of the other main reasons that it isn't remembered well these days is because it is overshadowed by facts about WW1 when discussing that time period of history. Though millions of people world-wide died of Spanish Flu, people were and still are so concerned with the numbers of soldiers who gave their lives fighting during WW1, that they don't give as much time to those who died of a disease that is not very well known.
How many cases of H1N1 in Newfoundland Canada?
On October 23, 2009 there were an estimated 114 cases of H1N1 cases in Newfoundland, on October 26th, vaccines are to be administered to Health Care Providers and then to be administered to the public November 2nd, 2009.
What do you do to treat a red swollen and sore arm where the flu shot was injected?
If this lasts for more than a few days, you should contact a health care professional to be sure that you do not have a bacterial infection at the site of the injection, especially if there is any streaking redness from the site or any drainage or pus or to rule out an allergic reaction.
If it is due only to the body reacting locally to the vaccine, as can happen as one of the known side effects in some people, the best treatment is to begin to use the arm more (as hard as that will seem at first). This will initially cause slightly more pain just as moving a slightly strained muscle does, but the use of the arm helps the muscle that is reacting to the shot get increased circulation and clear out the damaged cells that may be collecting at the site. The more you use it for regular, but not strenuous activities, the faster this soreness will be gone.
Injections, especially if injected too quickly into the tissue, can sometimes tear the muscle fibers into which the medicines are injected, just like weight lifting and other strenuous exercise tears tiny muscle fibers and causes the muscles to get bigger (the normal process of muscle building). It may also be comforting to use warm moist compresses for twenty minutes a few times a day which will increase the circulation and help relax the muscle tissue.
Acetaminophen used according to the package directions might also help reduce the local inflammatory response. Never give aspirin to teenagers or children for this due to concerns about Reye's Syndrome. Consult your health care professional or a Pharmacist before taking any new over the counter medications to be sure they are right for you.
Are there any current H1N1 outbreaks in China?
As of early March 2010, there are still outbreaks of H1N1 reported throughout Asia. According to the World Health Organization:
"In the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere, transmission of virus persists in some areas of Europe and Asia but influenza activity is declining and at low level in the most areas. The most active areas of transmission are currently observed in parts of Southeast Asia and East and South-eastern Europe. Recently, influenza type B is increasingly reported in Asia."

Why do antibiotics have an effect on Swine Flu?
They do not have an effect on swine flu, but can be helpful if a secondary bacterial infection occurs with the flu or after the flu. Antibiotics have no effect on viruses. The flu is caused by viruses. Antibiotics are for treating infections by bacteria, not for treating infections by viruses.
Yes, in some areas of the world. In the US the number of Influenza Like Illnesses (ILI) is decreasing as of late March 2010, but the pandemic is still in effect and there are still some very serious cases and deaths. Don't let your guard down yet, but it looks like it is starting to wane.
Why are children dying from swine fly?

Is it possible to test a main relay to see if it's the problem for 92 accord lx?
It sure is, and you can do it with just your ears. Turn the key to on...and LISTEN, very closely. The instant you turn the key on, you'll hear a soft "click" from the relay. This is your fuel pump energizing, to get the fuel pressure up. Two seconds later you will hear another click. Right now, the FI system knows the fuel pressure is high enough to start the engine, but the engine's not running, so it will turn the fuel pump back off. This is a safety feature: if you got into a wreck and the fuel pump was running, you'd have a big fire and explosion with lots of dead bodies. When you crank the engine, you'll hear a third click. The fuel pump has come back on and the injectors have powered up. You might have to get on the ground and stick your ear next to the place where the main relay is (on the side of the car behind the dashboard, about halfway up the dash) to hear this click because the engine has started cranking. If you hear all three clicks, the main relay isn't your problem. If you don't, the first thing you need to do is to pull the relay and resolder all the connections.
If exposed to H1N1 can you be around children?
No, you should not come into direct contact with anyone regardless of age until you know if you have contracted the virus from that exposure. Chances are that you will catch the pandemic flu if exposed since it is a very contagious type of flu.
Stay a minimum of 3 feet from others until you know, and if you do develop symptoms, then avoid being within 6 feet of others especially those who are not vaccinated. Follow all hand washing and other precautions to avoid spreading the flu.
You will usually show symptoms within 3 to 5 days if you did catch the H1N1/09 flu. If the children are under 6 months old, they can not be vaccinated and have little immune system protection since their immune system is immature. Avoid even being in the same room with them and, if possible, stay in an entirely different location until you go 24 hours straight with no fever after symptoms have manifest. Children under 10 need a series of two vaccinations to be fully protected and those are given a month apart, so avoid exposure to anyone without full immunity even if they had a vaccination.
What type of virus is the H1N1 classified as?
It is a Type A Influenza virus with RNA genome.
Also called Swine Flu, the 2009 Pandemic Flu, 2009 Swine Flu, and A-H1N1/09.
Are the symptom cold like symptoms such as sore throat or green mucus?

Does the Flu Nasal Spray Flu mist hurt?
No.
The mist vaccine isn't supposed to hurt, and it didn't hurt when I got it. However, it will catch you off guard, even when they tell you they are about to spray it. It took my breath away when it went in, and it feels funky. There definitely was no pain, though.
