Prayer won't stop the judgment and the return of Christ. This plan has been in the making for a very long time. And although prayer is essential for humans to keep in touch with the Heavenly Father it won't put the brakes on whats coming.

No. The destruction of the temple predicted in verse 2 was but a sign and many other things had to happen. Although the disciples undoubtedly suffered many of the things predicted of them, many other things remained unfulfilled.
