How long does it take to dry tobacco?

Growing tobacco is fairly easy. Once you have purchased tobacco seeds, you sprinkle them directly on top of the dirt and water. You will probably want to start them indoors if you live in a cold climate. Once the last frost passes, you can move them outside.

Because you want to use the tobacco instead of just growing it, you will also need to learn how to cure it, which is a lot more difficult.

Does smokeless tobacco have nicotine in it?

The key ingredient in "chew" or smokeless tobacco is nocotine, just like in cigarettes. The quit-smoking patches and gums all contain nicotine so essentially you can get the same "buzz" from that. I don't know if there are pills though.

your best bet is skoal bandits they are little pouches of tobaco you cant swollow them like a pill though

To give a real answer here: no, nicotine does not come in a pill form, such as a tablet or capsule (I am not counting dermal patches or lozenges). However, it really should, but because of the negative reputation of tobacco products like cigarettes, all research into nicotine for use in, say, controlling involuntary motor tics, Huntington's disease, Tourette syndrome, obsessive compulsive disorder, and attention deficit disorder has virtually been shelved permanently. A pity, because scientific tests by pathologists have shown nicotine to be extremely effective when used in conjunction with psychotropics and neuroleptics for treating the conditions above. Like ethyl alcohol (which gets a bad rap for being the intoxicating ingredient in liquor), nicotine has been given virtual blacklist status in medical research, undeservingly so!

Yes, there is a pill form of tobacco. It is called dissolvable tobacco and is currently made by R. J. Reynolds in the form of Camel Dissolvables, Orbs, Strips and Sticks. It is also made by Phillip Morris sold as Marlboro Snus. You don't swallow the pill, but rather let it dissolve in your mouth and swallow the dissolved tobacco in your saliva. The Orbs look like candy and have a minty taste like Tic Tacs. This has generated a great deal of controversy as they appeal to teens and can be easily concealed. The health risks of the dissolvable tobacco are currently being tested as they are new products. Given that you swallow the product in your saliva, oral and digestive tract cancers similar to chewing tobacco are a likely health concern. Some Swedish studies on Snus have shown an increase in pancreatic cancer.

Is tobacco bad for your health and why?

because all smoke is carcinogenic (causes cancer), wether its from a campfire or a cigarette, theres always a chance of dying when you inhale it, or at least that's what everyone seems to think. the thing is some tobacco companies add chemicals, anything from pesticides to potect the plants to additives to make it taste different. that plus the niccotine, which is in all cigarettes because it produces the nicotine buzz, is addictive. so smoking a cigarette or two will do about as much harm as sitting next to a campfire for a few minutes. but then after a few cigarettes the addiction begins to set in, which would grow and grow, until your inhaling huge amounts of cancer causing substances. which increases your chances of getting lung cancer.

The above answer is completely misleading. Not all smoke is carcinogenic. Marijuana smoke does not show to cause cancer. Tobacco itself is not bad, but cigarettes are bad because of the radioactive pesticides they use.

Any smoke produced from the burning of carboniferous compounds (including marijuana, gas appliances, candles, etc.) is considered carcinogenic - some based on scientific findings, some on political grounds.

Bananas, nuts, sunflower seeds and other foods high in potassium contain traces of the radioactive isotope K40, so they could be also considered as carcinogenic. It's nothing to do with science any more, I'm afraid - it's politics and vested corporate interests.

How much do cigarette's?

Nov. 2, 2012 update:

In Manitoba, Canada (prices vary province to province):

Generally, a pack of 25 cigarettes is between $12.50 and $15.00 or more depending on where you buy them, which "quality" / brand you purchase. I've paid as much as $16.50 at a gas station!

If you don't smoke, don't start. You could use the 1/4 million you'll spend on them towards a real sweet retirement. That said....

Popular brands such as Export, duMaurier, Players, Matinee, Benson Hedges are generally around the $15 & up range, while brands like Canadian, Peter Jackson and (from the other answer) Rothman's have a lower price which varies store to store but are about $12.50 and up.

Where you purchase them can make a huge difference. You'll spend the most buying at a hotel, bar or gas station convenience store (except Domo). Buying by the carton (8 packs of 25 = 200 cigs) will save you most.

Buying across the border in the US will save you quite a lot. Buying tobacco and cigarette tubes & rolling yourself will save you the most if you are a smoker in Canada.

Do not buy cigarettes from illegal sources such as First Nation Reserves unless you are entitled to.
