Why is Danforth Avenue Toronto called The Danforth?

I live not to far from The Danforth, but it never dawned on me to ask where the name came from. I found a website that details the history of the Danforth.

The street is named after Asa Danforth, the American contractor who was hired to cut the road in 1799. Although Asa was hired to do the job, it wasn't actually done until 1851.

Check out the website. It has a lot of interesting information.

Which route would take you from Cape Breton to Toronto?

The following is the most straightforward all-Canadian route:

After crossing the Canso Causeway, follow the Trans-Canada Highway through Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to Autoroute 20 in Québec at Rivière-du-Loup. Then follow Autoroute 20 west along the south shore of the St Lawrence River, through Montréal, and to the border with Ontario. Québec's Autoroute 20 becomes Ontario's Highway 401 (otherwise known as the Macdonald-Cartier Freeway), which you can follow straight into Toronto.
