Turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" position. Remove the key.

Insert the key into the driver or passenger front door. Unlock the door. The turn signals flash twice to indicate that the system has reset.
This is also possibility especially someone else drive your car. This is very common if you lend your car to someone. The symptom of this condition is "No noise or sound at all" when ignition key is turned. If this is faulty, the symptom will be the complete ignition kill. Therefore, you will not heard and clicking sound or engine turning at all. If this is the problem, you can easily reset the Anti-Deterrent by using your key. Stand out side of the car and close all doors. Insert the key into the driver side door and turn the key to clockwise and counterclockwise for three four cycles. Try having your altanator checked.
Check the battery again with a cheap voltmeter ($20 radio shack); just to verify that you haven't put in a bad battery. With the engine running at 2000rpm, check the voltage at the battery terminals (this is the easiest way to check the alternator).... hopefully you're getting around 13.5volts -- otherwise, dead alternator.
Try checking the corrosion on the leads connecting to your battery terminals. I had a problem with rusty connectors which severely limited the amount of current that could be drawn from the battery, and after replacing those leads with a 5 dollar kit at my nearest auto store, it solved my problems.
I just had to replace the alternator on my '99 Toyota Avalon with 150K miles. I disconnected the negative cable when the car was running, at the suggestion of a person on another site. The mechanic said that I really risked ruining the car's computer system by doing that -- he said that might've worked for an old car but with the newer ones and computers I really took a chance. He said a voltmeter is the way to go in the absence of a better way and said the voltmeter should show 13.5-14 volts.

How do you fix a car trunk lock?
Here are several answers from FAQ Farmers: * If the trunk lock is broken, it's probably one of those things that needs to be replaced.. after all if your keeping valuable items in your trunk, you want something that will lock up. A lock is a fairly intricate peice of hardware, and with many small parts to it, it's difficult to fix. A locksmith, is probably not a good idea. They may not care about the car itself and cause more trouble than they are worth, a mechanic will be willing to replace the lock, or fix it if possible. The only problem this these locks, is that often, the lock housing is located between your cars outer...skin... and the metal framing for the trunk. Since these two have been welded and assembled in the shop years ago, they are extremely difficult to access. * It depends. If the sheet metal was damaged, that will have to be repaired first, or the lock won't seat properly. That's done by a body shop. The lock itself would have to be looked at-by a locksmith. If it's not possible to repair, a new one can be installed and keyed to match. This is NOT something many car dealers or mechanics can do. Removal and replacement of the lock cylinder isn't very difficult, BTW-if not self-evident, a service manual should show how.
