Did you find this anywhere? I've searched online for two days.

I am not positive it applies to 1999, but does to 2000 and later , so my guess is that it is the same for the '99 THERE IS A SCREEN TYPE IN THE TANK THAT IS PART OF THE PUMP AND THE INLINE FILTER IS ON THE INSIDE OF THE LEFT FRONT FENDER UNDER THE AIR BOX. NOTE: TOYOTA FUEL FILTERS ARE LIFETIME. (NO NEED TO CHANGE)

you can use a 5W30 or 10W30 either or, but if you want the BEST I suggest a full synthetic oil in either of the types.

Depends on the year. Listed in your owners manual and possibly on the oil fill cap.

make sure all doors are locked and windows are up then press and hold start button on remote for 3 secs My remote does not have a single start button. It has 4 buttons; Lock, unlock, open trunk and alarm. I was told I have to hold down a combination of buttons to get the remote start to operate. I forgot what the procedure is. Any ideas?

It is by the gas tank in the center of the car between the rear wheels and is accessable from underneath the vehicle.

There are at least three timing marks. One is on the camshaft, and it defines the firing time and must aligned with another mark which is on the crankshaft and defines when pistons are in their top position.

I have a '99 and had the timing BELT replaced at about 120K miles. Also had the water pump replaced at the same time because you had to go past the timing belt to get to it and there was so much labor expense involved getting to the timing belt, they said in the long run I'd likely save $ rather than have both done separately at different times.

There is no definite answer to this question, as no one drives the same. However you could average 30,000 miles for the front rotors, and 60,000 for the rear.

Based on what is stamped on the back of the factory brake pads I have in inventory, it's SUMITOMO

for a 99 it should be the new type

AND there should be a sticker up on the inside of your hood stating the specific type in your system now.

Mine does the same thing..it's coming from the motor/drive assembly. I disassembled it and lubed the heck out of it with white lithium grease but it still squeaks. The motor is bolted to the firewall on the passenger side. When I get a moment, I will attempt the repair a second time. My wife and I were on a long trip recently and the wipers (I thought) started to squeak extremely loudly. I replaced the wipers, not even thinking it could be something else, and the noise still persisted. When we got home I lifted both wipers from the windshield (should have done this in the first place) and the noise was still present. It turns out the noise is coming from the nylon/plastic pivot mount that the wiper arm is connected to. The shaft that is inside this mount connects the main drive arm linkage to the wiper arm. I too have tried to lube this point but it is extremely difficult to get lube into. If you can pull up on the bottom of the pivot assembly (as if trying to push the shaft out of the mount) it will open a small gap into which you can just barely get some lube into.

You will need apply steel glue to reattach the drivers mirror on a 1998 toyota avalon. You can purchase steel glue at walmart or any auto supply shop.

This task is quite easy. If you are asking this question, I assume you haven't done this sort of thing before, so set aside some 2 or so hours. You need a flat screwdriver (or some flat soft edged tool) to remove the trims, and a Philips head screwdriver to open the screws. You also need the bulbs which I suspect you can only get from the dealer. Order them first so you do the jobs and be done at once. [The bulbs for the odometer, clock, and thermometer LCD displays are different from those of the speedometer and diagnostic lights.] My car has 4 bulbs in all. Have spares - those things are super fragile. I only opened my unit to check and 2 bulbs did came up dead when I put it back in... go figure.

0. Disconnect the battery. Perhaps just removing the negative cable is enough.

1. Begin by removing the little cloth covered speakers at the edges of the instrument panel area. Use your wedge tool (or flat screwdriver) and pry gently lest you break something. The speakers are on clips only. The pry motion can dislodge the outer clip, but the inner clip needs a pulling motion. Overprying can break it. When the speakers are free, you may disconnect their wire harnesses. The speaker clips have little metal retainers that can get stuck in the hole. If this happens, remove it very carefully lest it fall into the car and vanish.

2. Now remove the upper and lower trim pieces which run the width of the car. With the speakers out, you can use your hands to put at the trim clips gently until the being to release from one end and work your way across the dash.

3. With the speakers and the trim pieces out, you can now see some of the screws that need to come off. If you are replacing the bulbs that provide backloght for the odometer, clock, and thermometer, you need to work from the passenger side. The first panel from the door has no buttons or functions on it, just a cosmetic cover with Avalon writen on it. It is held down by 2 screws on the door end of it. Once you remove these, the other end is held by clips onto the middle panel (the one with odometer, clock and themometer). Gently tease out the clips and put it away from scratch danger.

4. Now you can see the passenger side screws of the middle panel. You may take these off. On the driver side of the middle panel, there is a narrow trim piece that separates the middle panel from the speedo panel. It is held down by a screw at the top, which once you remove, you can tease out the bottom (careful not to break it) and off it comes. Now you can see the other screws of the middle panel and remove them and out comes your odometer panel. (If you wanted to remove the speedo panel, you just take off the screws by the driver door side and off it comes.)

5. Ease out the odometer panel and release the wire harnesses (5 of them) by pushing down on the little spring clip as you wiggle it out. You can emply a screwdriver to help (but it will dent the plastic, though these are internal parts that you don't look at all the time). If you are replacing the diagnostic lights, you don't need to disassemble the unit - they are accessible from the back of the panel.

6. Now with the panel free in your hands, you first remove clear cover by releasing its clips, then the black plastic backing also attached to the white back by similar clips. At the back of the white plastic back, on the side with the diagnostic lights, there is flexible circuit connector going into the board. Use a small flat scredwrive to get leverage to unplug it from the green circuit board. Then turn the panel over and unscrew the green circuit board adn out it comes.

7. You can finally see the bulbs you need to replace. You twist then and they come off. Assembly is the reverse. Be sure to test that the bulbs are all working before you put the panel screws back.

Dexron VI can be used, instead of the original Dexron III (original fluid - again Dexron III was a cutting edge when 98 Avalon was released!). Dexron VI has many advanges over Dexron III. Consult a knowledgeable mechanic, & use the proper Dexron VI for your vehicle.

The air is drawn in through the vents in the front of your windshield. The filter keep dirt, dust and junk from entering your air-conditioner and cabin when you turn on a fan. I usually get between 50 and 60,000 miles between changes. On my 2003 4Runner and my 2008 Tundra it's located right behind the glove box. I don't know where your is located but I'll bet it's in the same place. It the same place for the FJ cruiser, Prius and Sienna. Instructions usually come with a new cabin filter so check the box.
