you have a problem known to many alero and Pontiac grand am cars you have a bad wheel bearing,this is a common problem with these cars and they will not do a recall on this.you need to have your front wheel bearing hubassemblies replaced its not a bad job can be done by a decent backyard mechanic but a lot cheaper then going to the dealer, just save your reciepts in case they do recall your car for this problem they will reimburse you for your cost.

If you have service engine light on, trac. off light and the ABS light on the same time, you may be able to get it fixed my reprogramming the power control module (with updated software calibration). Mine was fixed for free at a dealer under a recall campaign when GM called me yesterday.

First you need to removed the plastic cover from inside the car staring from the top around the window and then the bottom part then removed the nuts from inside the latch.

This is a very common problem with this model, of which I do own. Replacing the rear window motor is the most common fix. I wanted to check mine out a little more and found out I just had electrical issues with the motor. Few taps with a screwdrive handle and it was working just fine again. sad to say though it is out again, and will probably replace motor. to bad they botched that part of the design. your handle on the rear door also has a good chance of breaking also. Be gentle. : )

If you're asking about a thrown rod, you can't just replace one rod. It's generally an indication of other problems and you'll need to rebuild the engine. Sometimes a rod will go through the side of the engine when it fails, then you have to buy an entire engine. If you caught the problem before it came off the crankshaft, you'll probably be able to get by with an engine rebuild. That means turning the crankshaft to make it round again. Generally, when a rod goes bad, the pounding against the crankshaft caused the crankshaft to be worn on one side, and it's no longer round again. its a big job. the timing belt drives the water pump. you have to drain the coolant, remove air filter hose to engine, remove fan an fan shroud, serpetine belt, alternator, remove the two front bolts to the a/c, remove harmonic balancer pulley. remove timing belt covers, loosen power steering pump so you can remove alternator ,set the timing then remove belt. then remove the water pump. you need a 10mm,12mm,14mm,17mm an a 22mm an 24mm sockets both deep well and shallow and all those sizes in wrenches. a Phillips head screwdriver and something to hold the crank when you are trying to remove the bolt. that is a quick overview

You don't. If the idle is not within factory spec there is a problem that needs to be diagnosed, such as the idle speed control unit for example.

there are four, two on each side. follow the exhaust from the manifold back and they're pretty apparent Bank 1 is on drivers side Bank 2 is on passenger position 1 is in front of catalytic conv and pos 2 is behind.
