The doctor should have told you if there was something wrong. He is either using faulty equipment (which is unlikely) or there is something seriously wrong. Ask your doctor for answers and if he/she doesn't have the answers, see a different doctor immediately.

Every person is different... However, I had the same thing happen to me. Tracking the dates of my cycle I thought that I was 8 weeks along when I made my first ob appt. When they did my ultrasound there wasn't a baby yet, the dr said I was about 4-5 weeks along. He said that I must have ovulated a lot later in my cycle than normal this time. When i was 5 weeks they did a ultrasound after having a positive home pregnancy test and positive blood test. They said according to the size of sac i was only 3 weeks and they didnt see a embrio. Maybe a false pregnancy or the fetus stopped growing i went a week later to another doctor and they detected a embrio and the sac had grown in one week i will be four months so just give it a little time and maybe see another doctor. A ultrasound is exacty how it sounds. It sends out waves of sounds that bounces around your stomach and bumps into matter which then turns around and produces a picture for you. A laser light/flash light is used to light up space and is measured in sight not sound. If you stick a flashlight/laser light down a long dark tunnel it will only go so far as light can only be seen to a certain distance which is measured in how much power is produced. Yet, if you lets say put a light upto something that is not opaque and is hard to see thru as it is you won't be able to get the light to go thru the other side. Sound and Sight are completely different as you can see. (Disclaimer: I am not a scientist, this is just what I have accumulated in knowledge over the year"s".)
