What is that old wives tale about the baby's heartbeat?

it depends, i waited 3 weeks, i kept chasing the hospital asking them for cancellations and eventually they moved it forward.

Is fetal heartbeat of 244 at 9 week too high?

By the beginning of the 9th week of pregnancy, the normal fetal heart rate is an average of 175 BPM. At this point it begins a rapid deceleration to the normal fetal heart rate for the middle of the pregnancy of about 120-180 BPM. There is also a slowing of the normal fetal heart rate in the last ten weeks of pregnancy, though the normal fetal heart rate is still about twice the normal adult's resting heart rate.

Will your ultrasound be given in weeks from conception as you dont know when your last period was?

Why was the Ultrasound scan invented?

It evolved out of defense-oriented electronics devices such as Radar and more specifically Sonar, which uses sound waves. Sonic altimeters operating on pulses of Compressed Air were in use in l934 by what was to become the Luftwaffe and they were installed on commercial Zeppelins such as the Graf Zeppelin and HIndenberg. A sort of variant called the sonicaltimeter ( an early use of run-on language now so common) was made and used on Blimps by the US Navy and was adapted to submarine detection during the war. so it goes.

My pregnancy tests showed a weak positive result 4x and a negative onei had had an ultrasound but there is no sign of a fetus. Why is this?

The only reason you would have a positive test with no fetus means either it's a somatic pregnancy (in your head) it's ectopic (in you fallopian tube) or you have cancerous tumors in your liver. Get a HCG Beta Subunit (ask for this) from your doctor. It's a blood test to determine your exact HCG level

At six weeks pregnant what does it mean when a doctor does an ultrasound and states she can see blood outside the sac?

I had that. I also have a progesterone deficiency, but I started progesterone supplements and am now 13 weeks pregnant and they didn't see any evidence of bleeding on my last ultrasound last week. The doctor who told me about the bleed at six weeks, when I said "What does that mean?" said "sometimes we see that in early pregnancy. We like to not see it, but sometimes we do." How's that for a non-answer?!?

How Do Sounds Differ?

From a seventh grade perspective, I think it is how loud or soft it is. It depends on how fast the vibrations are.

Being 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant can an ultrasound tell you when you conceived And if so how close to the dates is it?

It can tell you, with very good accuracy how many weeks pregnant you are, medically speaking. HOWEVER, medically speaking, pregnancy is measured from the first day of your last period. Conception happens a few weeks after that, while you are fertile. If your periods a very regular you could estimate the day of of conception to within about a week. The reason you can never tell the exact date is because sperm can live inside a woman for about 5 days or so. That being the case, egg fertilization could happen any time from just after sex until up to 5 days or so later. During which time the woman may have had sex again, or with other partners.

Can you hear maternal heart rate with fetal monitor I have a Doppler but all I can pick up is slow wooshing that matches my pulse.?

you can absolutley pick up your own heart beat instead of the babies, the babies will be faster and may be difficult to pick up sometimes depending on babies position.

What is the chance of having a baby girl?

It should be 50-50 chance, but recent studies have shown that if you eat vegetables before the conception, there is more chance of it being a girl.

Can you feel the babys heart beat?

No, you can never feel it but at the ultrasound you can see and hear it.

How do you perform coitus?

When you have any type of sex with another person, you are sexually active. This include sexual intercourse and oral sex.

Are regular stomach cramps in the morning the same as morning sickness during pregnancy?

Well usually, the cramps will feel like period cramps, but it will be in your uterus. If you feel nauseated or queasy, just sick to your stomach, that's morning sickness. Kinda feels like the flu. Some women throw up with it, but not all women. I have 3 children and I haven't thrown up with either one. I just always felt like I had a stomach flu. And it doesn't have to be just in the morning. It can be anytime of day. But if your cramps are in the stomach part, and not the uterus, and it feels flu like, it may be morning sickness. I think it is unlikely to be morning sickness if you are just having cramps in the absence of any other symptoms like nausea vomiting or food aversion. the bowel slows down when you are pregnant to increase absorption of essential nutrients - sometimes this causes constipation and irritable bowel type symptoms. Some cramping in early pregnancy is normal but I would get it checked out to be sure

What gender dies the earliest?

As I understand it, it is men who generally die earlier. Which is unusual considering the biological stresses one women (pregnancy etc). Most studies read indicate a disregard for personal health or a longer working life and stress as general factors in the early deaths of most men.

Can an ultrasound scan be 2 to 3 weeks out The scan says 7 weeks 1 day but could it be that you are actually 10 weeks 1 day pregnant or are they extremely accurate this early?

Yes, don't worry about the difference.

By 4 weeks, a fetus cannot be seen but the thickening of the uterine lining can be detected. By around 5 weeks, an ultrasound can almost always confirm that you are pregnant.

Between four and a half to five weeks, the gestational sac is easily seen and can be measured, since the average growth is 1mm per day at this time but not completely uniform this information is considered a tentative date when LMP date is not known.

A few weeks later Ultra Sound to determine fetal age is done by taking a measurement of either the femur (longest bone in the body) or the crown of the head to the pelvis called the "crown rump". The measurement is taken and automatically then by comparing your baby's measurements to the data from a large collection of measurements, the ultrasound can then tell how far along your baby is.This is most accurate between week 7 and week 14.

Doctors have fallen into using a rule in ultrasound that when the due date based on ultrasound doesn't vary from the mother's dates by more than a week, stick with the mother's dates; if the ultrasound disagrees by more than a week to ten days, it becomes wiser to rely on the ultrasound.

Later in pregnancy other things such as babies who are larger than average size, babies growing at different rates among pregnancies, will cause inaccurate dating of pregnancy. But are still an excellent tool for other issues that may develop.

The bottom line is, Ultra Sound is a machine made and run by humans, it is an amazing tool for many things, but babies are still going to come into this world when they are ready, regardless of dates. Only 5 to 10 percent of babies arrive on their due date, whether the date is by ultra sound or LMP.

Why would an ultrasound last week show an embryo and heartbeat and this week show a empty sac and no heartbeat?

There might be a problem with the pregnancy. Generally I would say the pregnancy is not viable if there was one there last week and now its gone. I had the same issue but waited a week to do another ultrasound and there was a baby with a heartbeat. I have no idea how common this is, but I call my little 20 month old my little angel!

How can a human embryo disappear from the gestational sac in three days while you continue to experience pregnancy symptoms?

Definately a blighted ovum. Not much info out there, noone talks about it and you never hear of it. There was a conception so you were/are pregnant (!) but although the sac develops etc, the embryo does not continue to develop. Its very hard because people you tell will carelessly offer up their 'phantom pregnancy' and 'so you wernt even pregnant' comments, but in fact you were/are. Investigate curette and natural miscarriage and weigh up the options. The induction style with drugs to expel the pregnancy had me in hospital 4 days only to have a curette but its not the same for everyone. The curette has risks and you SHOULD wait at least one period before trying to conceive again while waiting to miscarry naturally is better for the body, less risky but hard to wait for while you continue 'being pregnant'. Ho hum. Theres no saying you will have another one if that helps and women go on to have healthy babies.

AnswerIt doesn't disappear...it was never formed. It's called a blighted ovum. Your are pregnant, your body feels pregnant, but the embryo does not grow into the next stage...it just stops being. Its hard on woman, because usually you don't find out until two-four weeks after it ceases to exist. So here you are all happy and really the "baby" doesn't exist. I experienced light brownish discharge with mine..from about 6 weeks to 10 when I finally had a intervaginal sonogram.

I to had a blighted ovum. I was so happy when i finally found out. but i had cramps and i went to the er. They did an intruterine sonogram on me also i had a sac and was about 6 1/2 weeks along. It was actually a long process and I took it pretty hard. I would be driving down the road an start balling. IF you have this your not considered not pregnant so don't put your self down you just basically had a miscarriage. I have to remind my slef that sometimes. I just say i am a mommy of an angel. :) well anyways i ended up passing the sac a week later i remember the contraction pains and sitting on the toilet for hours. I put on some pads and went to sleep and woke up twice covered in blood. It is very hard mentally but I am stronger and i do many things to rmember my baby! hope you never experience the pain of a blighted ovum.
