What do you call the air force special operations people?

It depends on their job. If you are talking about the guys on the ground, they are called Special Tactics Airmen. The specific jobs for them are Combat Controllers, TACPs, and Pararescuemen. All Combat Control Teams are AFSOC units. Only one TACP unit is with SOCOM - 17th Air Support. The rest belong to Air Combat Command, or ACC. Pararescuemen, or PJs, deal with personnel recovery and MEDEVACs. They are placed in either the Rescue Squadrons under ACC or the Special Tactics Squadrons under AFSOC. Some PJs and CCTs are also with JSOC as part of 24th Special Tactics.

What is the value of ww II army air force uniforms?

Anywhere from $25-$30 to as much as $100 or $200. It depends on the condition and the patches and medals. A uniform that looks like a suite and without any patches or medals will be about $25 in most cases. Some patches along can sale for $200, believe it or NOT. A uniform that has several patches and medals and such will sale for a lot if you have something to validate it is authentic. Many people sale uniforms on eBay by adding medals and patches that were not there originally and advertising that the uniform belonged to a general or a paratrooper. ALSO KEEP EVERTYTHING TOGETHER. If you split up the items, then this devalues the collection. If you have a uniform, a photo of the soldier wearing it will make it more "collectible". If you have a uniform and a medal and the soldier's name in the uniform (laundry tag) and on the medal match, then that is a big plus.

Was the markings of the Memphis Belle bomber accurate in the 1990 movie named 'Memphis Belle'?

The B-17 bomber named "Memphis Belle" depicted in the movie is not the same model. The Memphis Belle was a Model F, which was distinguished by the large square window on each side of the nose that had a machine gun mounted through it. This window did not have rounded corners but were squared off. The markings were almost correct except for the main item; the nose art. The nose art depicts a girl talking on a telephone and wearing a swimsuit but with her head turned away. On the real Belle, the girl on one side was a mirror image of the one on the opposite side. However, the one on the LEFT wore a BLUE swimsuite and the one on the Right wore a RED one. The colors were the same on the plane in the movie.

Also the name of the aircraft was written in small block letters on the real Belle and not in fancy script letters at an angle as seen in the movie. A color documentary was made of the 25th mission of the Memphis Belle directed by William Wyler. This provides a good reference to the aircraft markings. The Memphis Belle completed its 25th mission on 19 May 1943 but not all the crew had completed their 25 missions. The crew member names used in the movie are not factual: there was no Danny nor a Virgil. The Memphis Belle was brought back to the States and flown around the country to raise money. Many other pilots flew the aircraft while it was on this tour. The Memphis Belle was saved from the scrap pile by the City of Memphis and kids who raised money to buy it. The US Air Force Museum took over the ownership and allowed Memphis to keep the airplane as long as it was protected from the elements. Just recently, the USAF reclaimed the Belle and it was disassembled and trucked to the Musuem, where it is undergoing an 8-year restoration.
