What is Regina Benjamin military rank?

Regina Benjamin is not in the military, and, as far as I can tell, never was. As the Surgeon General of the United States, she falls under the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, which is a uniformed service of the United States, but is not a military service. However, the Commissioned Corps uses a rank structure taken from the Navy, and she holds the rank of Vice Admiral in the USPHSCC.

Which is easier to be a jet pilot the navy or the air force?

The Air Force - Air Force pilots are able to land on stationary runways on land. Naval Aviators must learn to land on a moving runway, not much bigger than a couple of football fields, in day or night, and in all types of weather, as well as traditional runways. For this reason alone, Naval Aviators are considered to be much more proficient fliers than their AF counterparts. Taking off and landing on a postage stamp in the middle of the ocean that's moving is no easy feat.

What was the first nuclear-powered surface ship?

The U.S. Navy's USS Long Beach (CGN-9) & USS Enterprise (CVN-65) were the first Navy surface combatants to be powered by nuclear reactors. Both ship keels were laid within 2 months of each other, and commissioned at almost the same time. The Long Beach was commissioned a few weeks prior to the Enterprise, (September 9, 1961). The Enterprise was commissioned on November 25 of that same year.

The Long Beach was the only ship of her class, and was the last cruiser built on a traditional cruiser hull. Subsequent cruisers were built on modified, scaled up destroyer hulls. The Long Beach was also the Navy's first guided missile cruiser, which showed the reality that missiles had finally replaced traditional guns for surface-surface engagements. She was decommissioned on July 2, 1994.

The Enterprise was still on active service until December 2012, and is currently the oldest active commissioned warship in the Navy (The USS Constitution, though the oldest commissioned vessel, holds a ceremonial commission).

Her hull type is a bit different from modern carriers, and her reactor configuration makes her more expensive to maintain. She is scheduled to be decommissioned in March 2013.

Can a navy seal participate in an exchange program with the sas or sbs?

Yes. A Navy Seal was attached to the SBS patrol present at the Qala-i-jangh uprising in Afghanistan.

Special Forces of the UK & US engage in regular joint training, and personnel exchanges are commonplace - certainly, in the 1970s there were numerous SEALs at the SBS base in Poole, Dorset: I met them when staying with my godfather, who was in the SBS. Incidentally, my godfather had a number of American medals, awarded during the 1960s for "actions of an unspecified nature" (he wouldn't tell!), but almost certainly, I think, earned whilst serving with SEAL teams in Vietnam...

The SAS and US Special Forces have had a regular NCO & Officer exchange programme since at least the early 1960s (two notable examples were Charlie Beckwith, RIP, who saw active service with the SAS in Malaya, and later founded "Delta Force", & Richard Meadows, RIP, who married a British woman, and was so well regarded/ popular that the CO of 22 SAS tried to recruit him permanently!); Frank Collins of 22 SAS (who was the youngest member of the team which assaulted the Iranian Embassy, 1980 - now, sadly, also deceased) so enjoyed his exchange with "Delta" that he nearly "went American" (but for his wife he would have done), and was thereafter known in the SAS Regt as "Frank the Yank"!

So, yes, it's quite common for US Navy SEALs, US Army SOF etc to participate in exchange programmes with their British equivalents, and - as noted above - these units work very closely together in A'stan, and elsewhere.

What is a navy shellback?

Shellback is an ancient designation. It represents someone that has crossed the Equator while on a ship. The tradition is a source of pride to those that have achieved it. It is also made a part of the service member permanent file. I am a Shellback!

Why are the coast guard and navy personnel treated sub-par by army personnel over them by issusing them sub standard equipment such as firearms?

The Army does not issue weapons to either the Navy or Coast Guard. This is done through the Dept. of Defense.

As far as the age of weapons issued, newer weapons go to units which are expected to have the most need for them. An infantry unit on the ground is going to have a much more pressing need for newer small arms than a Navy unit deployed at sea. Likewise, Navy SEALs will have equipment which will not be made available to line units, even at times when a line unit could find such equipment beneficial to have.

What strain of flu occurred on Navy Destroyer USS Mustin?

Unless you have access to one of the crewmembers, such information is usually classified at least For Official Use Only or Confidential, unless deemed otherwise by the Navy Department.

Military medical problems aren't reported like civilian problems are, and are more closely guarded as that kind of knowledge affects morale and can give an enemy an indication as to a particular unit's vulnerability and overall readiness.

Can an army of five jet planes J7W2 Shinden Kai or Ki-201 Karyu destroy two F-22 Raptors?

No because jet powered J7W2's were only a design concept and were never made. Yes if they did exist, and the F-22's were sitting on a runway without pilots.

How are you chosen for navy c school?

If your evaluations are halfway decent and you know what C school you want, submit a request chit for it. If your chain of command feels that either you or the Navy would benefit from the school you are probably on your way. You will probably have to agree to extend your enlistment if accepted to C school. If the school you want is totally unrelated to what you are trained for you probably won't get it. Also, if you reenlist you can make it a term of agreement for your reenlistment.

What are the us navy b schools?

There was a time in the navy that upon leaving boot camp a recruit went to A school, a basic to moderate training environment in his chosen skill. B school was more advanced training in that same skill and equates to college level content, but this B school only becomes available after extending the original enlistment into the Navy, normally during second or third enlistment. B schools were obviously highly desirable for a potential career sailor and played a valuable role in the sailor's advancent in pay grade.

What is the acceptance rate at Blair Academy?

The acceptance rate for classes entering 2008-2009 school year was 39%.

Prior posts:

In 2008, at many private schools, the acceptance rates are actually much lower than the 45% from a previous post. Record number of applications over the past few years have resulted in a significantly reduced acceptance rate. 2008 is noted as a "peak" year with the number of applications expected to drift downward. I think many schools are both excited about the rising quality that numbers bring and concerned that the new numbers will scare off qualified candidates. Our son applied to several schools . The 2008 stats provided by those schools are as follows: Blair 700 applicants 120 openings (all grades), 550 applicants 90 openings 9th grade = 16% acceptance. Episcopal = 600 Applicants 100 openings = 16% Lawrenceville 1450 Applicants 150 9th grade openings = 11%. Comment to above: Please note that not every accepted applicant matriculates to the school. If the yield rate is 50% (that is, 50% of accepted students matriculate), then the acceptance rate at Blair would be 32%. If and when I learn what the acceptance rate was this year, I will post it.
