The location of a vauxhall astra transmission oil filler?

For the Astra G (Mk 4) models, the gearbox does not have a specific oil filler hole. The reversing light switch can however be unscrewed for this purpose, but as it is quite a small hole, and not in a very convenient position, it is helpful to use an oil can with a flexible spout. There is an oil level plug which must also be removed to ensure that the gearbox is not overfilled. This is located by the left hand drive shaft, and can be difficult to access. The operation should, of course, be carried out with the car on the level.

You don't unless they all go out! They are really difficult to change. You need to remove the CD player, cigarette lighter, ash tray and heater knobs. Then all of the plastic trim surrounding those components. Then change the bulb and put it all back together. Took me three hours to do it.

How do you change power streering pumps on a vauxhall astra 1.7td?

The pump its self is only held on with a few bolts just undo them.

Now remove all the pipes that are attached to the pump. ( clamp the pipe that leads to the power steering fluid reservoir or you will have a mess! )

now refit in reverse order!

Basically if you remember how you got it off it should go back on.

If you want to use fresh fluid which is advisable as it only costs a few quid carefully undo the pipe with the clamp on into a suitable container and then once reassembled refill from the reservoir.

Now turn your pump by hand a few times to make sure you have fluid in it before you replace the drive belts.

Note do not over tighten the belt this can lead to straining of the pump bearings.

This job took me about 45 min and saved me about 100 quid.

The pump cost me 80 quid but you can prob find cheaper pumps.

Good luck

How do you change ignition barrel on 2002 vauxhall zafira?

To remove the ignition barrel you need to be able to turn the key to position II. On the barrel casing you are looking for a small hole in to which you insert something like an Allen Key. The barrel can then be extracted. If you can't turn to the second position then its time to get the drill out and carefully drill the contents of the barrel. It's worth tapping the casing with a hammer whilst turning the key if the barrel has stuck before drilling.

How do you know when the timing belt needs to be changed on a 2000 1.4 petrol opel astra?

You will have no symptoms that it needs to be changed. Also looking at it will not tell you whether it needs to be changed or not as it may look good and be ready to break. For this reason timing belts are required to be changed at a set mileage or years interval. Referred to your owners manual as to the maintenance schedule on the timing belt. It varies with manufacturer from 60,000 miles 110,000 miles.

How do you fit a egr valve to a vauxhall corsa 1999?

first you need to run the engine so it warms up. turn it off then disconnect the pipes(you need to run the engine so its easier to take the pipes off otherwise your gonna struggle) then un do all the bolts, when you take the valve off their is gonna be water pouring out of the engine as it is the engine coolant. when you have took it all off including the gasket give it a good clean so that when put the new one on it will seal properly. then when you have done that put it in place put the bolts back in tighten them up replace pipes and top up your engine coolant and jobs a good un.
