Clean the switches and check that the harness on the switches is tight, its usually just the power seat ajustment switches that are at fault and not the seat at all.

Save your money. When you get enough just ride around a fair size city and when you see a VW bus make an offer. Cash money is hard to turn down. Of course, you should plan on spending anywhere from $300-1,000 more to get it to where it is a reliable ride. Finding a VW bus is not as hard as finding a good VW mechanic. From 1972 to 1979 the VW micro bus uses a type IV "Pancake" version of the air cooled flat four motor. Pre 1972 VW buses use the upright air cooled motor identical to the versions used in the VW Beetle's of the era. VW then experimented with a water cooled version of the flat four engine(Wasserboxer), this lasted a few short years and VW moved all vehicles to their water cooled inline and similar standard engines.

it could just be a fuse, could be your bulbs are burnt out, could be the wires arent hooked up properly, could be a number of things. im not to familiar with buses so just try the simplest one first that would be your fuses. if that doesnt work then just go from there. find a diagram and check to see if your wires are connected properly.

Pretty obscure question, I guess the would be no more than any other vehicle on the road. Oil changes every 3k, gearbox oil whatever the manual says, you need to check valve clearance every 3k on an older bus but that's not difficult to do, costs nothing if you do it yourself. Adjust the brakes when you do oil and valves, I would say it's minimal if you keep up on it, couple hundred bucks a year? The depends entirely on how old the bus is and how well it has been maintained to this point.
