Internet Explorer, mostly since at that time google chrome and opera or maybe even firefox either didn't exist or were too new, IE was also the default for pcs, which were more popular, and still are, than macs so IE beat safari. Also, Internet Explorer 9 is faster now. People say chrome is faster, but on slow systems, based on personal experience and proof, IE is too slow to use(unless you disable add-ons), but on newer, faster systems, IE IS better. However, the usage % as of April 2012 is close. Here it is:

There is no current version of Internet Explorer available for the Mac. Internet Explorer for the Mac was discontinued in 2003 and Microsoft recommends "that users migrate to more recent web browsing technologies such as Apple's Safari." Other alternatives (that are faster and safer than Internet Explorer) include FireFox, Chrome or Opera. (See links below)

There is actually a very easy way to find Internet history, that few people know about. Even if you are very careful about deleting your Internet history, all the sites you have visited are stored in a temporary archive, called the 'DNS Cache'.

To access this DNS Cache and view the files, you click on the 'Start' button, and can do two things.

Click 'Run' in the start menu, or if it isn't there hold down the 'Windows' key and the 'R' key at the same time. This will bring up a little box. In that box, type in cmd.exe and click 'OK'. A black box will come up now, with a line of writing. You don't need to click anything, just type ipconfig /displaydns and click 'Enter'.

Now, a list of sites you have visited will come up. If you don't want anyone to see that, you'll have to type in ipconfig /flush dns. If you did this correctly, this will come up:
