Long answer short, it's a configuration file Linux needs to boot and function properly, don't mess with it unless you know what you are doing. Your Linux distribution's installer is likely to automagically generate this file for you.

The majority of the time a green-screen or blue screen is used because those are the colors that there are the least of in a human's skin tone. Using colors that there are less of in the skin makes it easier for the compositing program to separate the background from the actors without messing up the skin tone. A screen used for keying (removing the color) can be any color, it could be green, blue, red, white, or even black (often used for explosions), it all depends on what is being shot.

To use the archive attribute (A), back up files telling the archiving application (WinZip, etc.) to clear the archive attribute of the files it stores copies of. Whenever one of those files is modified in the future, or whenever a new file is created, its archive attribute is set. Therefore, on subsequent backups, you can have the application back up only files that have the archive attribute set (and clear the archive attribute while doing so). That way you don't waste time and drive space backing up files that haven't changed since the last time they were backed up.

That's an awfully broad question! The Windows structure has many files that change the makeup of Windows XP based on many different factors including what peripherals might be plugged in, what programs you've recently used, how you access the internet, etc. If you're at that point where something keeps going wrong and you'd feel a whole lot better just starting from scratch, the SIMPLEST and MOST EFFECTIVE solution to "reset Windows" is to clear your hard drive using a free program that's on your Windows XP CD called "f-disk". This will wipe out everything on your hard drive, as well as a hidden set of Windows entries called "the Registry." If you simply re-install Windows without doing this, it will examine your Registry but will more than likely leave the settings and files alone as long as it detects the existence of needed files. It does not, however, test the integrity of those files -- of which is most often the culprit of those annoying "features" like the printer no longer working or the DSL connection not communicating "this time".

BE CERTAIN to back up your data onto a CD-R or someplace else, and know that you must own a licensed version of Windows XP and any other software programs that you use on a regular basis. These will also have to be reinstalled after you've successfully installed a fresh copy of XP.
