Why should x-ray film never be used past expiration date?
Depending storage conditions, - ie. stored in a dry, dark, cool place or frozen - old x-ray film can be used passed their expiry date, but I wouldn't recommend it for diagnostic purposes. The image result is usually non diagnotic because the emulsion deterioration produces brown/green tinted images, blotches, or no image at all.

It depends on your boss
It depends on the terms of your employment. If you work for a company, you most likely will have paid vacation. If you are a contractor, you make your own arrangements.

Do you own your dental x rays?
Technically, yes, you do. You've paid for them. But the dental practice CAN charge you administrative costs for preparing them and turning them over to you. When moving and/or changing dentists I've never had a problem with the old dentist sending them to the new dentist.
How do you become an x-ray technician in the Navy?
You must first first visit your local recruiter and apply for Hospital Corpsman School. It is recommended you do this prior to signing any contract or scheduling for a Physical examination.
Upon completion of a physical exam, and basic training. You then must attend Hospital Corpsman "A" school. Upon completion of this schooling, you may be eligible to continue directly on to Basic X-ray Technician NEC 8451 school. This is dependant on how your contract is written up from your recruiter when you enlisted. Sometimes top performers in Hospital Corpsman "A" school are allowed to continue on to Basic X-ray Technician school directly from Hospial Corps "A" School.
If you are not eligible from "A" school to continue on into the "C" school of Basic X-ray technology, you then are assigned to a command as a Hospital Corpsman, and you may apply for Basic X-ray School after 18 months of Duty at your assigned command. This could be a hospital, ship, clinic, Marine Corps assignment, etc.
If you are accepted into Basic X-Ray technology "C" School you will then attend an 18 month course in San Diego, CA. Upon completion you will be assigned another command as a basic x-ray tecnician. After another 18 months are you eligible to apply for Advanced X-ray Technology "C" school.
After completing this 24 month course you are eligible to take the National Registry Exam with the ARRT. This is the full accreditation process for a Navy X-ray technologist that is recognized in the civilian sector after leaving the military. The process can take up to 4-5 years.
Having completed this process myself I hope this information helps you with your decision.

Is there a way to determine the degree of Scoliosis curvature without the use of x rays?
Not really, no. They use the x-rays along with the cobb angle method to evaluate curves.
When assessing a curve the apical vertebra is first identified; this is the most likely displaced and rotated vertebra with the least tilted end plate.
Will x-ray technicians be replaced in the future?
I do not think it will become totally possible to replace x-ray technologists due to the very nature of their work. Robots cannot do some patient care tasks.
What hours do a x-ray technician work?
In the private sector, possibly 8-5 daily
In a hospital, they do shift work - and will most likely have to rotate from one shift to another over the course of time.

Can airport x-ray machines damage Video VHS tapes?
I am sure the x ray machines do demagnetize tapes. I bought hi8 tapes for my cam corder (2 sets) and all of them were demagnetized by the time I got from St. Louis to Tennerife. I was pissed I even asked security if they would be fine and they assured me they would. LIARS! lol I didn't get to make videos for my kids to see and of family there for other family to see I was angry. So my advice is to NOT take them. This year I am looking for a container that will keep them safe. Any ideas are appreciated.
How does density affect X-rays?
The speed of passage of the x-radiation through a body depends on density.
Will the food carried in cabin baggage be affected by x-ray screening?
No, there should be no noticeable effect on any food item from being x-rayed at the airport.
Comparison of electron diffraction with x ray diffraction?
electrons have ~6 orders of magnitude higher scattering cross section compared to x-rays.
Are LPN nurses allowed to have tattoos due to metalic ink and x rays?
First of all, modern tattoos, while using some inks that contain metals, have such low levels of metal that it would be unlikely to be affected/affect medical equipment. Metal would have no impact on X-rays whatsoever, I believe your concern is more related to MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) which employs strong magnets. Tattoos done at tattoo parlors should not be affected by these machines, but tattoos done crudely at home or in prison may contain high levels of metal that can cause serious harm.

What are the chemicals used in extraction of silver from x-rays?
X-rays are a form radiation, and you can't extract silver from that.
But X-ray plates or slides, for those places that still use wet processing, do contain silver which can be extracted. Don't know how though.
How much radiation does a x ray tech get a year?
It depends on the specific assignment of the tech, and on the respect of security standards by the technologist and by the state of the equipment and facilities being used.
A poorly trained, sloppy individual in a poorly maintained facility will be exposed unduly. A well trained individual observing careful technique in a good facility will not be exposed to much, if any, radiation. It's all in the details.
If both speeds are measured in the same medium, whether it be
vacuum, water, or jello, then they are equal.
Yes an abscess will be visible on an x-ray. It usually appears at the botom of the root of the tooth as a dark circular area.
