How do you deodorize a garbage disposal?

To deodorize a garbage disposal you can either put some baking soda in the drain and let it sit for a while or my favorite is to run lemon peels through the disposal after you do the dishes every night. You can use orange peels, too. Just make sure the pieces are small enough to run through without clogging it.

What is a good window cleaning solution?

Soap may be unsuitable. Try mixing 1 part water with 3 parts white vinegar. Works great, the smell does not last long. I like windex but instead of using a cloth towel try and use an old piece of news paper. If you are cleaning anything real dirty in the future you should use Dawn dish soap...it is the best product out there for cleaning materials...just dilute some in a bucket of warm water and go at it...it is better than any cleaning product out there :)

What causes a sulfur smell in a clothes washer?

There are several places where water is stored in the machine and hoses, which is normal. If you do not use your machine much this water can become stagnet and pick up a smell, you can notice this especially in a rental house which is vacant often. Another cause is if you have the exhausted water plumbed to the main drain line without a trap the smell can come from the area around the washer. A way to help reduce this is to wash your white clothes last, the bleach and hot water you use can help reduce the smell.

How do you clean a garbage disposal?

The easiest method to use is to pour 1/2 c. baking soda down the drain and follow it with 1c. of white vinegar. Let it set for several minutes while you boil some water. Pour the boiling water down the drain and flush the drain throuroughly. This is the method I use most often and it works well to clean it, get rid of smells and get it running more smoothly again. If you have a double sink you should clean both drains. Another method is to put a tablespoon of bleach in a gallon of water, pour it down the drain, let it sit for several minutes and flush the drain with cold water. I don't think this works nearly as well. You can also use ice cubes and citrus rinds to help clean the blades and the citrus rinds will give you a nice, fresh scent.

What is the average height of a washing machine?

There is no standard height of a washing machine connection. It all depends on what the clients wants, the set up of where the machine is positioned and availability of the current plumbing

Does toilet water go down in clockwise in other countries?

Yes, all water swirls clockwise in the southern hemisphere and anti clockwise in the northern hemisphere.

The rotation of draining water is more dependent on the design of the drain than on the rotation of the earth. The coriolis force is too weak to have an appreciable effect. See the link below.

How do you get ink out of upholstery?

Lay the stained area on top of a clean dry white towel. Apply water to the ink stain and blot with another clean white cloth, removing the stain as you blot.

Apply your normal liquid laundry detergent onto the ink stain and allow the garment to sit for 3-5 minutes.

Wash in the warmest water that the fabric can tolerate.

Before drying, double check to make sure the ink stain was removed, if not, repeat the previous steps until it is.

I think this will help you.

How do you get rid of SAP on a TV?

you should be able to find a button on your TV remote that will turn the sap function on/off. also, your TV instruction manual should contain some information on this. failing that ,contact the manufacturer of your TV set & tell them of your problem.

Try simulating a "power failure" for your TV by leaving it turned on and unplugging it from the outlet. This may reset the MTS (multi-channel television sound) to the "stereo" position. I have an old Sanyo TV and a Sanyo remote that is not the original. Neither the TV nor the remote had any "audio" buttons, or SAP/STEREO buttons. The simulated power failure worked and now I can hear all channels again!

Why does the basement smell of raw sewage?

It could possibly be coming from the drain. There is water in the drain that goes to your septic or holding tank even city sewer that stays in the pipe acting as a plug to prevent the odor from coming up. Same as an elbow on a sink drain. If that water evaporated or somehow drained, then your drain now has a direct contact to the sewer/septic. Imagin it being like a snorkle connecting the sewer gas to your basement. If this is your problem the fix is easy. Simply pull the floor drain cap up, usually two or three screws. Pull out any debris that may have gotten down in there. Pour a few gallons of water down the drain. You should see water in the drain at all times, but still pour a few gallons down. Your creating a plug between your basement and the sewer. After this is done, vent the room with fans. Wait a few hours and see if the smell is gone. If it's still there you may have a bigger problem. Call a plumber who can narrow down the causes in just a few minutes. ALSO, maybe just check around with a flash light, you might find the source of the smell is simply a dead mouse!

How long does it take for coffee grounds to decompose?

Coffee grounds should be considered "green material" when added to a compost pile. They are also a good source of nitrogen for the compost. Because of the size and consistency they breakdown fast in the compost pile, faster than other materials so the speed should not be of much concern. Actually, coffee grounds can be spread directly around established plants. Worms seem to love them as food and they quickly incorporate the grounds into the soil so this is a bonus for the plants and soil.

How do you remove battery acid stains from concrete?

The orange you see is called acid "burn" and any concrete "rust" removers you find on the market will not be effective at removing acid burn. Some rust removers are good for rust but may damage concrete, create white spots on the areas they were applied or spread the acid burn making it even worse.

This product is called F9 BARC and will work for your stain the best of anything on the market.

Answer I have used "Rust Aid," which can be found at any Home Depot, for rust stains and battery acid stains. Apply with a solvent resistant brush and let it air dry. It should remove and or bleach out the stain. It will whiten your concrete quite a bit too, but that will darken up after some time has passed. I had a significant stain, and now my driveway looks 100 times better. Answer The concrete is etched. You can't really fix it. You may cover if with a topical sealer like an epoxy paint. Answer Use some clumping kitty litter to be sure all the acid is soaked up (even if it looks dry) and then get rid of it with a shovel (not hands.) Use a powerwasher (good one) even if you have to rent it and if you rent it ask them what solutions they have that could get rid of this. Powerwashers are a God-send!

Answer: Try a Cascade mixture on the spot.

Answer: The concrete is etched, if you really want it to be gone, you should rent a machine called a "shot blaster" or "Bead blaster." run it over the affected area a couple of times an the contamination will be gone. Wash the area well with water and baking soda. Seal the concrete once it is free of surface moisture.

How do you unclog hair from toilet?

Tried and True

First, get yourself a plunger made for a toilet, it is bell shaped, sort of, and not the sink kind, bowl shaped. And keep it by the toilet or in a closet in the bathroom. You don't want to walk through the dining room with it to comments about your monster dump.

Then: you are going to need water in the bowl. Take the tank top off and find the pipe or tube that releases water from the tank to the bowl. You don't want to overflow it obviously but it is the water pressure in the bowl that is going to push the clog down the pipe, so you need a fair amount. Be careful.
Now put the plunger in and use a short, quick up and down motion. After several strokes, pull up the plunger and see if it worked. If not keep at it, it will.
When successful, flush a couple of times to rinse the plunger. And wash up. These new low flow toilets make having a plunger handy a virtual necessity. I can't imagine using a coat hanger,, gross.
Easiest Way To Unclog a Toilet

Use a sanitary waterless plunger that doesn't touch the water or muck inside the toilet bowl. The sanitary waterless plunger is placed on top of the toilet bowl rim and uses compressed air to directly target the clog. By depressing the waterless plunger several times the clog is quickly and easily cleared away.

Traditional plungers and plunging techniques expose individuals to harmful bacteria, fungi and viruses like E Coli, Salmonella and The Flu Virus. A sanitary waterless plunger completely eliminates contact with toilet water and waste.

The only brand of sanitary waterless plunger currently available is the EZ Plunge. The EZ Plunge is a new product and is currently available on line and in select home improvement stores.

Quick Unclog

Pour about 1 cup Dawn dish washing liquid into clogged toilet; let rest for about 1 hour; flush. In most cases, the toilet is unclogged and flushes easily.

Answer easy

hire a plumber

Our tried and tested tips!

Tip a bucket of hot water rapidly from as high as possible (well, maybe up a ladder's going a bit far!)-stand back!

Next step if that's a failure-use a stick...........wire next.........and if that doesn't produce the beautiful music of stuff rushing rapidly away to where it's supposed to go,then try a cut off length of garden hose(better ask the gardener first! They sure won't be wanting it back when you're through with it).

If that doesn't work, then you'd better find a nice ,quiet corner of the garden and start digging!

Using a common plunger is the usual method however if one is not available a large bucket of boiling water sometimes works. Pour this slowly into the bowl.
You get a rubber plunger and work it up and down in the bowl.
