Cockroaches

Native species of crayfish that are are a normal part of the ecosystem are not harmful. But there are several invasive species, like the rusty crayfish, that can kill off native crayfish and other crustacians. The rusty crayfish has a thicker shell and less "meat" and therefore are are not a good part of the food chain depriving the ecosystem of the nutrients from the crustacians it replaces. Invasive species also tend to destroy large amounts of water plants that further degrade the food chain. Also there is an infection that occasionally occurs in crayfish that can spread to other animals but this is usually a normal part of the life cycle and not neccasarily harmful.

Saliva provides moisture moisture which helps form the chewed food into a bolus, & lubricates it as it is swallowed; it also contains salivary amylase, an enzyme which starts the process of digesting carbohydrates, and a small amount of an antibacterial enzyme.

Creatures with exoskeletons frequently have a primitive muscle/blood flow circulation system tied into each other and it is hydraulic by nature. The natural state of their legs is curled up and a force of exertion combined with the pushing of blood through their legs causes them to straighten. You must treat the property before you leave. Always check appliances, furniture, clothes and anything else you are moving with for signs of roaches. If you find roaches, discard before bring to your new home.

The scientific name of the flying cockroach is Blattella asahinai. The Asian cockroach is better-known as the flying cockroach because of the long, narrow wings that allow it to fly. It was first found in the United States in the Lakeland, Florida area in 1986.

The German cockroach is named for its believed origin in Southeast Asia and introduction to Europe via trade routes. It was later spread globally by human activity.

Diatomaceous earth is a cockroach repellent. They can not stand to walk on it so anywhere it is place the cockroaches will keep away from.

Real wood roaches are harmless. They live in moist environments outside and feed on decaying wood. They are rarely seen indoors. If they do come in, the cannot survive in the dry environment.

Expose your mattresses, clothing, curtains, plush toys and furniture to direct sunlight outside, particularly afternoon sunlight when the sun is at its brightest. This will kill most if not all of adult bed bugs, nymphs, larvae and nests.

Vacuuming in every corner of the house including in the nooks and crannies of your furniture and under EVERYTHING will eliminate nests and live bed bugs.

Using duct tape, inside out on the bottom of furniture legs, bed posts, etc will trap the bugs before they can climb to the mattresses.

Usie extremely hot temperatures when washing and drying clothing and toys in the washing machine and dryer.

For toys that aren't machine washable, vacuum them as best as possible, and enclose them in a plastic bag, removing all the air (airtight) and set in sun for a few hours.

Steam cleaning is the most popular and effective way of eliminating bed bugs. If you have a household steam cleaner, steam everything from the curtains to the floors and under every piece of furniture. The intense temperatures kills bed bugs instantly.

Cover holes in walls and wooden furniture with duct tape, to trap bugs and nests, and prevent them from feeding off of hosts.

Place Lavender satchels (potpourri) around the house and especially under mattresses, around couches and other furniture, and around baseboards of house. Eucalyptus is also known to work as well at deterring spiders, earwigs, beetles, ants and other creepy crawlies from entering and infesting a home.
