It could not be almost anything. It IS a pyramid, which consists of a polygonal base with triangular sides meeting at an apex or a point at the top. That is what a pyramid is.

Depends on the tools and the type of geologist.

The standard kit for most geologists consists of:

(5) Notebook and pencil to record observations.

(6) Field vest and or pack to carry all the gear.

The above list might vary depending on whether the geologist specializes in "soft rock" (oil and gas), "hard rock" (minerals and precious metals), Hydrology (water), or paleontology (dinosaur bones).
