Since I do not know the year or model of the vehicle, I am assuming you are referring to the quick connect type fuel line fittings on most Fords. There are inexpensive removal tools available at most automotive stores. (Give them the make and model of the vehicle as there are different types and sizes of connectors) The tool slides onto the fuel line, by pushing the tool into the fitting it releases the fingers in the fitting. Make sure the fitting is clean and well lubricated as dirt can prevent it's release.

A fully charged battery should read approx. 12.8 V without engine running With engine running should read Approx. 13.8-14.2 Volts

A system using an air pump and air shocks or air ride to keep the vehicle level no matter the load placed on the vehicle.

My information does not list it as having a timing belt but lists it as having a chain. Look in your owner's manual or call your local Mercury dealer to verify this.

I'd look in your owners manual. You probably have passed a recommended service interval, and a technician performing the maintenance will know how to turn the light off.

I found mine on my 2005 mountaineer and apparently 02 to 05 are the same. Open back passenger side door on your left where the seat belt goes into the wall behind all that is your code. remove the panels carefully by pulling on them top on first pull out then down. Second one pull out and up. near the door opening you will see a black box labeled security unit, on that box look you will see only one set of five numbers, there is your code. This works couldn't believe my eyes until I punched in the code and bam it unlocked the doors after locking them manually! You can reset this factory code to one of your own chosing but not quit sure how contact ford dealership service department they should be able to talk you through this procedure over the phone since you have the factory code now.

The maximum towing capacity of the 2008 Mercury Mariner is 1,500 pounds. Engine and drive train upgrades, as well as a towing package may be required.

There is a clearly labeled cover over the general area of the oil filter behind the cross member on the underside of the car.

It's a bit buried. Note that the 1999 Mercury Cougar has no user-servicable barts.

Look around the tailgate jams or dealership with your VIN #.

On the Ford windstars they are in the rear passenger side behind a panel. It usually says on the outside of the panel where it is. It should be in the same place on the Mercurys. Ford also puts them on the kick panel of the passenger side of the front compartment also in other models. It should be one of the two places. It usually says fuel cut-off though. If you are talking about the inertia switch that is related to deploying air bags then it reads the speed decrease from the wheel speed sensors or from the transmission. Good luck.

the butterfly tends to get gunked up. remove air intake assembly to get to throttle body butterfly. i used an old toothbrush and some carb cleaner on it to remove buildup.

Your best bet if you can't find it from a google search (and you rarely can) is to pick up a haynes or chiltons manual. The wiring diagrams can usually be found in the back of the books.

Sounds like the timing could be a little out of whack, when in park there is no load and the base idle is good, but when under load there is a vacuum advance issue and the timing is just out enough to cause the sputtering. Check the cap and rotor for any signs of cross firing or arcing inside the cap, hooped rotors will also show this arcing as witness marks on the rotor.
