I know an adoptee that is looking for her father. Her father was in the USAF at Lajes Field and left before her birth in March of 1963. Her mother was a local woman and gave her up for adoption. What exactly do you mean by 'rights'? If you mean the right for him to see your son, that is at your discression. There is no rule that says you have to take your son to see his father in prison. You may need to pursue legal rulings to designate what type of visitation dad will have upon release. Make sure this is clearly stated, that dad knows about it BEFORE he leaves prison (if he has a bad temper, far before he leaves prison), and make sure his parole officer know about the situation.

Well my step father adopted me. Because mother and step father kept track of when my real father seen me, my real fathers background, what he provided, receipts from what they provided, and in 2 years....if no contact has been made after attempting it may be able to be rulled child abandoment. I am disgusted with the fact he would dump this poor young girl (you aren't dealing with an adult here) and he feels he can just run off on his merry little way and perhaps back to you? It has been my experience in these type of cases that prosecutors are not hesitant about bringing them to trial, and judges take great pleasure in handing down the maximum sentences if the adult is convicted.

I met his mom 4 days after meeting him. It wasn't a big deal, really informal. We had to stop by her house to pick something up. She knew exactly who I was, it felt good to know he had been talking about me. My family lives 500 miles away, it will have been 4 months when he meets dad. Yes, this is possible if the child hasn't been adopted. or the mother could destroy everything the child has known and regain custody after they are adopted. This would be a very wrong act and it is not recommended.
