Thirteen plums weigh as much as two apples and one pear Four plums and one apple have the same weight as one pear How many plums have the weight one pear?

So let apples be A. Plums are B. Pears are P.

13B=2A+1P

4B+1A=1P

So 13B=2A+(4B+1A)

Lets subtract 4 plums from both sides. 13-4=9 and 4-4=0. Then we add up the apples, so 2+1=3. 3 apples equals 9 plums . So 1 apple equals 3 plums. Then the problem states four plums and one apple equal the weight of one pear. So 4+(1x3)=7. So the answer is 7 plums equals 1 pear.

What country does brambley apples come from?

Bramley apples (not Brambley) are a British apple first grown about 1809 and first commercially available about 1850. In my view, the Bramley is easily the best cooking apple in the world. Raw, it is so sour as to be inedible - but mellows considerably when cooked and develops a very sophisticated, and unique, flavour and texture. Bramleys are very large apples and contain so much juice that there is no need to add water when cooking in pies, crumbles, sauces etc. Sugar and a little lemon juice is almost mandatory in these dishes, however. The only other countries to grow Bramleys in any quantity are the Irish Republic and the United States. Something I find totally inexplicable!

Is carving on the tree trunk harmful to the tree?

Any "attack" on a tree is harmful, much like cutting your arm with a knife. It won't kill you but it will hurt, but eventually it will heal - much like a tree.

Cutting any part of the bark removes the ability of a tree to "pump" water from it's roots to the furthest leaves, so any incision will affect a trees growth.

How long does it take for an apple tree to grow?

If you mean from seed to fruiting size, then it takes between 6-10 years. If you plant a grafted tree purchased from a nursery, it will fruit in 3-4 years. The tree itself would take longer than this to reach full size.

from a nursery it would take 3-4 years and from a fruit it would take 6-10 (from nursery it costs allot of money trust me it does)

Fruit is comprised of fiber, sugar, and starch (a form of sugar). The sugars break down and are used for energy. IF there are too many sugars in the body, the excess are stored as fat for letter use. The fiber cannot be digested by humans and just passes out of the body.

Can white distilled vinegar replace apple cider vinegar in sweet pickle relish?

Yes but the result will be different. The distilled white vinegar does not add any specific flavor but the apple cider vinegar will impart a distinctively "fruity" undertone to whatever you're pickling. The pickling process will succeed but your end result will change.
