What is the required distance covered by an Formula 1 race?
Currently, the maximum length a Formula One Grand Prix can be is two hours from start to finish. If the race is not completed within this two hour window (due to rain, or other safety issues) then the race is called. This is due to TV time slot limitations.
Other than this, a good way to estimate the length of a Formula One race is to go to www.f1.com and go to the race results page. Search the previous year and the previous track for the race results. These results include the total time of the winning driver for the entire race, as well as how far behind the rest of the drivers were.

They are insane. Over an inch of lift and the duration at fifty is high 280s low 290s. But they use a lot of lobe separation angle (116-118). They will idle at a decent rpm. Those cams KILL valve springs. They go through a set maybe every two/three runs. $4000 a set?? But you are lifting a very large valve an INCH @9000 rpm.

Do you have to have racing seats in order to have racing seat belts?
No you don't have to, but it's highly recommended. My race car didn't have a racing seat the first year I raced and I had racing belts. But it's much safer to have an actual racing seat, no matter what kind of racing your doing.

How was Nitrous Oxide used in drag racing and nascar racing?
Nitrous Oxide is still used in drag racing but as far as i know it is not or has ever been used in NASCAR. Nitrous is a nonflammable gas that expands really fast when exposed to a heat source. It is used with the same idea as a blower or supercharger. Forcing as much air into the engine as possible. The engines have low compression pistons in them and the nitrous is injected into the intake usually in stages raising the shot pressure as the car moves down the track. Which in turn causes the fuel to burn allot easier, fuel is much more volatile under pressure. When you see the cars explode and they say it was a nitrous explosion it is almost the same effect as blowing up a paper bag and popping it only with fuel mixed with it.
