Different churches have different methods. When soliciting for a new pastor and you find some that are ready to move on I would go and listen to them preach. I would talk to their parishoners and find out their strengths and weaknesses. I would make sure that their beliefs are the same as my churches and that they were bible based. They need to be capable in many areas. Preaching the word, evangelizing, visitation to the infirmed or shut-ins, counseling. Have them come to our church and preach before our congregation. There should be a group or committee that is entrusted to make a decision on candidates. The most important part of the whole process is prayer. Prayer by the committee, the church, and the prospective pastor. Do not leave God out of the picture. Pray about it.

Speaking as an Armenian, the answer is no. We do not believe in eternal security. We believe that a person can fall from grace and lose their salvation (2 Peter 3:17). I have heard all the classic arguments from my Calvanists friends as to why they believe we are eternally secure but for every argument they give me I can make a case for my position to dispute it. In the long run, I think we get to caught up on issues like this that really aren't essential. Even though I don't agree with eternal security, that does not keep me from having fellowship with my Calvanists friends. Nor should it keep us from working together.

President Obama is Christian. His father and step father were both Muslim and he spent some time in Indonesia where many of the population are Muslim, but he did not attend Muslim schools or religious services. He has never been Muslim. When they lived in Chicago, Barack Obama and Michelle Obama belonged to the United Church of Christ. Since moving to the White House, they have not selected a specific church yet, preferring instead to attend different churches of different denominations around the DC area. Many of those he has visited are Baptist, but not all.

A religious cult typically refers to any social group devoted to shared beliefs, practices and doctrine that any mainstream society considers to be outside the norm. It has been within my direct experience (living in the Bible belt for over 30 years) that there can be a cult like presence within any religion involving groups of people.

For instance I once lived in largely Baptist community in Southern Missouri where certain Baptist members were involved in other practices and organizations outside the church. These practices included Metaphysics, Meditation, and other less mainstream Esoteric Arts. Religions as a whole for the most part are safe however, one should always be aware of those that require submissive control and isolation from outside influences.

Although we are guaranteed a right to religion in America that does not give any one religion power or prejudice over another. Religion simply should not afford exemptions to some to violate the rights of others simply because they are not indoctrinated into their group or desire to think for themselves. Where this has happened in the past we have seen corruption, theft, rapes, isolation, death pacts, thought control and other atrocities against humanity. Every Millennium has given birth to cultism, jihads and Apocalyptic ideas and theories .

Religious conservatives blame liberals for the problems in society because in their desire to consider all things, they feel liberals leave the door wide open for many things that are not beneficiary to society.

Spiritual liberals blame conservatives for the problems in society because in failing to consider all things, they do not assess the problem fully, and in so doing, fail to include all the variables that are required in order to properly solve the equation and create meaningful and effective responses.

When the two groups are at odds, nothing gets accomplished. When the two groups value each other (and are aware of their own short-comings) they are able to solve problems more completely and within realistic parameters.

Moderates see good things in each group and operate from the middle. (However, "splitting the difference" is a logical fallacy, and "meeting in the middle" may simply convolute problems, rather than solving them.) When moderates act as "moderators" they can be helpful.

People who are apathetic have either given up, or no longer care. They do not participate in the democratic process and are not politically active.

I believe as long as the aid society follows the guidelines set forth by the internal revenue service they remain legal, once those guidelines have been broken, they become suspect to the officials and may be closely watched.

An unaffiliated Christian is a Christian who does not have a denomination nor a membership in a church. Unaffiliated Christians will attend more than one church; unaffiliated Christians will go to one type of church on one Sunday and will go to a different church the following Sunday. I believe that this practice is increasing and it might be because many Christians do not feel that their personal beliefs are compatible with church teachings.
