There 10 Hebrew words translated into the 1 English word wine. The Hebrew language doesn't have a word for "juice" so when the Hebrew was speaking of "grape juice" the translators translated that word into our English word "wine". Most people don't know that and that is where a lot of confusion comes into play. The Bible always forbids the drinking of alcohol.

The following is a list of words tranlated into the English word wine.

Answer 2:There is no mention in the Bible of drinking wine being a sin. It is only a sin when done so in excess, causing drunkenness. In Titus 2:3 for example, there is a clear warning against becoming "enslaved to a lot of wine". In the Old Testament it was forbidden for the priests to drink wine before entering the Holy place.

There are several cases of wine-drinking mentioned in both the Old Testament and the New Testament, and they are not all negative.

1. The Passover Cup involved wine; in fact, partaking of the Passover Cup meant drinking from four ritual cups of wine. This is important - it sets the scene for how Christ celebrated Passover himself, and how He shared it with his disciples the night before he was crucified.

2. Jesus turned water into wine at the wedding in Cana.

3. In 1 Timothy 5:23, Paul advised young Timothy to "Use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent cases of sickness." Note that Timothy was warned to use a little wine - that is, use it in moderation. Wine was necessary in the early days of the church as it killed the bacteria commonly found in the water, since they did not have purification systems that modern man enjoys. But despite it being a cultural thing, there is not warning against having a little wine for other occasions.

To suggest that wine is a sin is an extremist view. Many churches use wine at Holy Communion. That would be suggesting that, every time they remember Jesus's sacrifice in the way He commanded, all partakers of Communion would be sinning. However, in deference to those who feel uncomfortable taking fermented drink, many of these same churches offer the alternative of grape juice.

From a personal point of view, as a teetotaller who is not Baptist but certainly moves in Baptist circles, I can assure you that, even though you are baptised in the Baptist denomination, you are still permitted to drink wine. I have known Baptist deacons and pastors who will occasionally drink wine. There is nothing wrong with it.

If one is an ordained deacon then becomes a minister do you have do be ordained again as a minister?

Deacon and minister are just titles within a church. Once you are ordained you technically hold all of these titles and can perform all of the duties, but can specialize in one at a time, often your church will appoint you to such positions sometimes in a hierarchy. This is really a question for your church on how they treat such titles, but I don't know of any religion that doesn't consider being ordained for life.

How do you say God's Gift in Latin?

A Latin equivalent of the English 'May God bless you' is Deus te benedicat. In the word-by-word translation, the noun 'Deus' means 'God'. The personal pronoun 'te' means 'you', as the second person singular form. The verb 'benedicat' means '[he/she/it] blesses, does bless, is blessing'. Another Latin equivalent is Deus vos benedicat. The personal pronoun 'vos' is the second person plural form, as 'you all'. It's used when more than one listener or reader is being blessed.

How is the Houston Baptist University campus?

The only thing I can tell you is that it is a very small private university with 2,333 undergraduate students, and 377 graduate students. It is fairly competitive with only 42% of those who apply being actually accepted. The school has the preferred regional accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is a College Board member. Thus, the coursework and degree one completes through this institution of higher learning will be recognized by all other colleges and universities as well as employers. Sorry, I just can't tell you anything about the actual campus environment. Still, it appears to be a very academically sound university.

Why Baptists do not go to movies?

Baptists do go to movies. There is nothing in the Baptist doctrine that forbids going to movies, or watching TV, either. The only religion that I know of that does not go to movies is the Pentecostal faith. Many of the older Pentecostals, and those of the more devout faith don't even believe in having television, either.

At what time did God die?

Answer Christians believe that Jesus Christ is God in human form, sent from the Father God as 'Emmanuel' (meaning with us') as the prophets foretold hundreds of years before.

Therefore, on the cross, God, as jesus Christ, died for our sins - he gave his own life so that the barrier that separates us from the Father, through sin, can be restored. Therefore God, in Jesus, did suffer and die - a death on the Cross.

This event took place the day before the Sabbath (ie what we now call Friday) at the feast of the passover, around 30AD. In modern terms, this is in the Spring on a Friday.

As to the time, the eyewitness reports in scripture give an account of the time. Converting into modern day equivalents, jesus was crucufied at around 9.00am and died at around 3.00pm on that Friday.

However, Jesus, as God incarnate (God in human form) rose again on the Sunday morning that followed, and was seen by his disciples on many occasions, and by others - on one occasion by over 500 people gathered together.

How many people does it take to form a Baptist church?

This is a difficult question, though I would guess that there would have to be at least a handful of people (5), though out West, many churches share pastors, as the area is very remote. Usually, even the smallest of churches have at least 15-30 people, which was the case with my church until recently. We are now running at about 60 on Sunday morning services.
