I am having the same problem and what I have been reading you have to check it on the side of the transmision..

Also, be sure that your transmission is not the "lifetime sealed" unit which requires a special fluid that is not compatible with ATF. Recommend you check with an authorized BMW dealership mechanic.

Open the hood. There should be a black box-looking cover on the top-right-hand side if you're facing the car. That's where mine's at and I also have a '91 735i.

It's more troublesome finding the battery. I've found it. Have you? lol

You need to find out if you have injector pulase. if you dont have injector pulase and spark check crank sensor

Depends on the year. 1994 and older would use R12 while models from late 1994 till present will use R134a. If you have a German Spec BMW chances are it wont have Air conditioning at all unless it is a newer model. Its best to ask your mechanic to check it out for you because using the wrong type of freon can damage your entire A/C system.

Why does the key for a 1997 BMW 740i set off the alarm when trying to unlock the vehicle? We unlocked the car with the remote key so that we could get it jump started it. In the process of pushing the button to unlock the vehicle it set off the alarm also. We then tried turning the alarm off with the key but the alarm would not disarm, the doors would still lock and unlock with every press of the button as we desperately tried to disarm the alarm. After a many tries we finally got the alarm to stop. Could you tell us what caused this to happen and what we need to do to keep it from happening again? We still haven't been able to jump start the vehicle because we are afraid that we will set the alarm off again. Please help us. Thank you.

The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank. It can be accessed by removing the bottom portion of the rear seat. On the passengers side is an access panel(looks like a car speaker upside down). Once the panel is removed, there should be 8 bolts that hold the fuel gauge sending unit and fuel pump.

Hello, The oil dipstick is located in the rear of the engine compartment on the drivers sid on it if the oil level is between these. It has a red handle on it. there are two grooves on the stick that indicate oil level. If it is to the top grove your level is fine. If it is below this groove that add oil.

open yo boot .On spanner area there is a long rod with a square end .Take it out remove the floor of the boot to expose the spare wheel.On the far end of the spare wheel there is a whole where u can insert the long rod(Its also written park brake .........). Once its home try to turn it. it will release the brakes

None of the 7 series models are good. I am looking for a BMW and people are telling me that the standard 3 and 5 series are the best ones to get with reliability. I heard the 7 cost the most in repairs.

its either in the trunk or under the left rear seat and u recharge it under the hood with the positive cap and using the hood latch as the negative!
