According to BMW specification, 6.0 seconds. I timed my own 2001 Z3 Roadster with Automatic repeatedly between 5.7 and 5.8 seconds, using a Beltronics Performance Computer Vector FX2. These things don't lie. My Z3 has not been modified in any way.

Fold the door mirror in towards the window. (Mine was frozen solid and further broke when I forced it round).

This will expose two alen head bolts that can now be undone (or drilled out if you are unlucky) Install with anti seize compound.

For reference there is a metal bearing thing that freezes solid if the mirrors are never folded. I always fold mine when I park on the road or carparks.

The Automatic Transmission in a BMW Z3 contains a lifetime fluid - If you drain it, you cannot refill it and you will destroy the transmission. The same goes for the rear diff...

The BMW z4 replaced the BMW z3 in late 2002. The BMW z3 was introduced in 1996 shortly after staring in a James Bond movie. Not as easy on the eyes as the z3 but just as nice.

Do you mean the internal heater? If so its possibly air locked from the radiator. My 2002 Roadster had this problem. There is a cross headed plug screw next to the filler. I removed this and filled the radiator .You need to make sure that you bleed all the air out of this section. I suppose you could blow into the filler until water comes out of the cross head bleed opening. Obviously whilst the engine is cold .Or WARM the engine with the plug slackened off until just water comes out. DONT OPEN THE FILLER WHILST THE ENGINE IS HOT. BOILING WATER COMES OUT.

All timing belts should be changed before 100,000 Miles

If you mean to insert the RADIO CODE:

- the battery (on the car) must be charged or new;

- insert the key in the ignition and turn it on the first level;

- push the button ON/OFF of the radio;

- you will have 4 lines on the display;

- learn the code from the label you got together with the car's documents;

- push the buttons located under each line of the display, so many time until you get the requested number;

- after you have the 4 numbers on the display push the arrow "right" and the radio will start normally.

Begin by removing the retaining ring at the top of your 1998 BMW ignition switch. The ignition switch will slide out. Remove the wiring harness.

Unlike most other BMWs the Z3 does not have an electric water pump for the heater. This means it is sensitve to air locks in the system. Eventuly these should clear themselves. Mine took a week to come back to full operation after replacing the coolent and bleading the system as per the instructions.

I think the overdrive observation is just a red herring and the heater will work once the engine exceeds about 1500 rpm for a while.

Make sure the coolent and oil levels are correct and try holding the car in a lower gear for a minute or so at 4000-5000 rpm while driving. This should force the air out of the system.

Take your BMWs registration to your local BMW dealership and using the VIN number and proof of ownership, they can order a new lasercut key for you.

I had mine done in corpus christi. Bozo's charged me $80 for a single frickin key.

It depends entirely on the year, model and engine. The 2001 3.0i roadster will do 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. That's with the M54 engine producing about 225hp. This was the fastest "non M" Z3 made. The slowest would be the early model 1.9L (4 cylinder) cars, which would take nearly 8 seconds. Not bad, actually, in part because the car weighs just under 3,000lbs. The fastest US Z3's are the 2001 and 2002 M roadster and coupes. They had the 3.2L S52 engines producing 315HP. Their 0-60 speed is around 5 seconds (and a kick in the pants to drive!)

P0601 is Internal Controller Failure- Common repair is Install new PCM and program it.

likely the blower motor resistor needs to be replaced. It is located in the engine bay under plastic cover located below the wipers. You will first need to remove the wipers then the plastic cover then the blower motor cover. resistor pack is located in the lower middle of the blower and is removed by sliding up. Cost of part is around $50

Pull out 2 fuses located in fuse box under the hood. The fuse box cover has descriptions and fuse numbers for all fuses. There will be 2 fuses marked air-bag on the cover. Pull them out.
