The correct name is a cross breed, but you could call it a Labmanollie, as it covers all three breeds.

It sounds as though you are talking about a band of muscle/cartilage that most bordies have across their chests. It protects them from being kicked by sheep when hearding. Most working bordies or their offspring have this.

ive had many border collies over many years and all of them seem to have this trait, they especially walk this way when hearding. if the dog seems in any discomfort or there is joint clicking consult your vet ==== ==== ==== ====

It is possible. There can be traits transferred from the grand-parents or great-grandparents which come up in the childs generation.

I have a shepherd dog too and they should not be shaved. Just offer plenty of fresh water all day long and from time to time let them stay somewhere cool. He has a little hallway (entrance) of his own where he asks to relax or where he sleeps at night (I do not want passers-by to harm him in any manner even by giving him unknown food, for instance)

For many dogs their coats actually help to keep them cooler by providing shade and keeping the sun off of their skin. Wolves don't shave and they have been doing fine for centuries.

Yes. Years ago, when they were being developed as a breed, they were basicly selectivly bred mixes. Now they have become a true breed registered with many Kennel Clubs and fairly popular pets.
