Turkestan was made from recipe which hailed from the Turkoman tribes. It included Honey and Oats and was a HI fibre loaf. When I was a Technical Sales Person for SPP, I used to sell the concentrate to the craft bakery sector.(SPP was Spillers Premier Products). Unfortunately It is not available now, and yes a supermarket used to make it up in their instore Bakery and sell it, it was delicious and I agree a pioneering Legend of its time, let's hope someone from an ingredient company or retailers' NPD person is reading this and wants to resurrect it! the wrapping was black and red and had cute images of the Turkoman tribal people.
