What type of oil should be used in a 2002 Cadillac deville?
I can't remember when Cadillac switched to 5w30 from 10w30 on the Northstar engine. Pop the hood and take a look at the oil cap, it will say right on it. GM was pretty good about putting oil weights on the cap.
Is a 1988 Cadillac sedan Deville a classic car in 2008?
NO, in order for a car to be considered a classic it must be at least 25 years old.
It would be short-sighted to restart the AC if you have not replaced the freon. The safety device helps prevent damage to the compressor, which is the part of the AC you don't want to have to replace due to its cost.

What can cause a 1997 cadillac deville to run hot?
There are several answers to this question. Some that I can think of right off of the top of my head are low coolant level, thermostat stuck in the closed position not letting the coolant circulate through the engine properly, bad radiator cap not holding correct pressure, hole in the radiator not allowing it to hold the correct pressure, a busted radiator or heater hose, radiator needs cleaning, improper water anti-freeze mixture (Should be 50/50) the cooling fan may be bad or just not working correctly, fuse blown to the cooling fan. This is all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there are other things that can cause it. Start with the simple inexpensive things, check the fuse to the cooling fan in the fuse panel, check coolant level, check cooling system for leaks, new thermostat about $5., new radiator cap about $5., correct mixture of water anti-freeze. If it gets hot within a few minutes of starting it is most likely the thermostat stuck closed. If it runs hot during stop and go you're probably not getting good circulation or your cooling fan is not working correctly or the coolant level is low or incorrect mixture.
My 1999 Dodge van wouldn't start;ended up being the ground wire going to the fuel pump.We spliced into the ground wire where it enters the fuel pump(on top of the gas tank)and ran it to the nearest place on the body, and it works fine, still dont know where it came "ungrounded".

Where is the fuel pump located on a 1993 Cadillac DeVille sedan?
It Is Located In The Fuel Tank How do you change it....do you have to remove the fuel tank? Is it a costly job to have done or can I do it myself
Check the Inadvertent Power Relay. It is located near the fuse panel under the hood, on the driver side. You'll need to pull the big cover to see the relays. Many times these relays - and they're sockets - can become corroded. Pull the relay and check for green corrosion. If corroded, gently clean the relay. Also check the socket, including the back where the wires go in. These can often be corroded as well. Sometimes the corrosion can be so severe that a wire will have broken. Resolder as necessary. That should fix it.
How do you bypass the passkey on a 1991 Cadillac Eldorado?
Ok, here you go. A) With an ohm meter, measure how many ohms between one side and the other of the "chip" in the ignition key (from the metal ridge in the middle of the black plastic on one side of the key to the other side). An electronics store or Radio Shack will probably measure the resistance of the key for you. B) on the bottom of the steering column, find the passkey wires (they are yellow) and they are quite small. MAKE SURE YOU DONT HAVE THE AIRBAG WIRES!!! C) cut these wires and install a resistor of matching resistance to what you just tested....i.e. if the key measures 5 ohms, go to Radio Shack or an electronics store and buy a pack of 5 ohm resistors, solder it in between the two cut wires. D) Just remember that any properly cut ignition key will now start and run the car, the passkey system is defeated. This also works to use for a remote starter system, so you dont need a spare key or "Passkey (or VATS) II module"

Will a 350 Chevy big block fit the tranny of your 66 deville?
First of all....a 350 Chevy is a small block. To answer your question...No. The only transmission a Chevy will bolt to is another Chevy. Only BOPC are interchangeable with each other. At least the old ones anyway.
If your Cadillac has the service engine soon light displayed, get it checked out as quickly as you can. It may be something as simple as a loose gas cap, but it can also be an engine problem or other serious situation that can damage your car if not corrected quickly.
I'm having the same problem with my GrandPrix, there's a website that may help you out a bit too, www.2carpros.com
There are other things at play to keep your engine from overheating and they are cheaper than radiators. First make sure the radiator cooling fan is coming on. Cost to do this "Free" Next you may want to replace the thermostat. It may be stuck closed or partially closed. Cost about $8 and your time. Either of these two will cause overheating and are more likely to be the cause than the radiator. A collapsed radiator hose will cause overheating also but rare. Hope this helps
