What was the second province to join Canada?
When Canada came into being on July 1, 1867, there were four original provinces: Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Each original province entered Confederation at the same time and none has a priority of entry over any of the others.
The fifth province to enter Confederation was Manitoba, but it was created by the federal government out of part of the Northwest Territories. Although it is correct to say that Manitoba "entered" Confederation on July 15, 1870, it did not exist as a separate colony prior to its creation. Therefore it did not "join" Confederation.
The first province to "join" Confederation was British Columbia, on July 20, 1871. The second province to "join" was Prince Edward Island, on July 1, 1873 .

What do all the provinces in Canada have in common?
Quebec's population is 8 million, not 7 million. Quebecers don't want their culture pushed on to the rest of Canada, they just want the French language prevented from going extinct in Canada. Many Aboriginal peoples are just like this so it's not something unique to Quebec.
The only real differences between Quebec and Ontario is that Ontario uses the English language and is typically right wing and Quebec uses the French language and is typically left wing. Other than that, the two provinces are not much different.
As for Quebec sucking up too much money, Quebecers barely take enough money to make a considerable dent in Canada's finances, but it's enough to make the anti-French bigots who are already prejudiced against the French to stir up their anti-French rhetoric.
Why they don't ***** about the costs to keep the Monarchy in Canada and to pay for Aboriginal reserves when they both cost the same as what Quebec gets annually (8 billion) is beyond me. But then again, what rational person would expect them to be consistent in their frugal philosophy?

What would happen to Canada if Quebec was granted their independence?
Canada will make adjustments and will continue as one of the great nations of the world.
The Eastern Provinces will be perceived as more isolated but, in some ways, they always have been. In the end, very little would change except that Canada would effectively lose a wonderful and unique part of its heritage. On the other hand, anyone who has visited Newfoundland will know that it is equally unique, as is the northern region of Canada. Quebec is just one part of a big, beautiful country.
The real question is "What will happen to Quebec if Quebec withdraws?"

Lakes common in US and in Canada?
Although there are likely many other minor lakes that fall on the border between the United States and Canada, perhaps the most significant lakes common to both the U.S. and Canada are in the Great Lakes area.
Starting from the Manitoba-Ontario border, these lakes include:
Lake of the Woods (Manitoba, Ontario and Minnesota), Rainy Lake (Ontario and Minnesota), Lake Superior (Ontario, Minnesota and Michigan), Lake George, Munuscong Lake, Lake Huron, Lake St. Clair (Ontario and Michigan), Lake Erie (Ontario, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York) and Lake Ontario (Ontario and New York).
In fact, of the 5 Great Lakes (Superior, Michigan, Huron, Ontario and Erie) only Lake Michigan is fully in the U.S.A. and therefore does not form part of the border between Canada and the United States.
Other important or famous waterways on the United States-Canadian border are Lake Champlain, the Niagara River (and its Niagara Falls), the St. Lawrence River, the Straits of Georgia and Juan de Fuca (between Washington and British Columbia) and parts of the Arctic including Beaufort Sea, where maritime territory disputes still exist between the two countries.

So you obviously can see the one on the US side from US soil, and since the other is so close you can see that one too.
You should visit it. Very beautiful
