When were speakers made?

Speakers, as we know them today, began to be developed in the late 19th century. The first electromagnetic loudspeaker was invented by Emil Berliner in 1877, which laid the groundwork for modern audio technology. Over the following decades, advancements in materials and technology led to the development of various types of speakers used in radio and sound systems. By the early 20th century, speakers had become integral components of audio playback devices.

What size are the rear speakers in a 1991 Ranger?

6X8 most speakers are 6X9, pioneer makes a factory replacement for Ford/Mazda that is 6X8

How do you find out the right size for speakers for 1992 Toyota Paseo?

4" in the front doors and 6.5" in the rear parcel tray. You're best off getting spacers made and replacing the front speakers with 6" - they fit, just make sure they aren't too deep.

What amp I need for jl audio w6 12''?

You need to run at least 500 watts from a real amp to push the speakers to potential without overheating. I am running a 1x1000watt monoblock kicker amp at both of them and it is all I ever wanted and it will handicap anybody within 100ft of the car.

How do you bridge a 4 channel amp to 2 channels?

positive of ch 1 and negative of ch 2...........The positive of ch 3 and negative of ch 4.

How do you tell which wire is the positive and negative and which is for the high and low beam on a 2001 Montero Sport LS?

Testing Polarity on wiresThe basic way to determine polarity on a wire is to probe it with a digital voltmeter. Modern vehicles use many solid state controls for various functions and circuits so ONLY use a digital voltmeter/multimeter.

Firstly, go purchase a cheap digital multimeter (from radio shack or harbor freight, starting at about $5 ). Put the meter in dc volt mode, 12 volts (or more) range. Hold the black meter probe on a metal body/engine ground-point and probe the wire in question with the red probe while the circuit is powered on.

If the wire has 12v + power on it you will get a volt reading. If the wire is open or has ground on it then there will be no 12volt reading.

Next, if there was no reading, repeat the test with the red probe attached onto the cars battery at the PLUS terminal (+), then probe the wire in question with the black probe (with the circuit powered up). If there is a 12volt reading then that wire has ground on it, no response means an open wire or the wire has B+ power on it.

Your electical system should be safe if you use a digital volt meter for this operation.

WARNING! Use the info following at your own risk! Improper use of a testlight can DESTROY your controller circuits!

If the circuit under test is a high power circuit (enough amperage normally goes thru the wire in question to light up a 12 volt lightbulb or headlight for instance) then a digital voltmeter CAN give a false indication of 12 volt power as that type of meter draws virtually no power to speak of. In other words, the meter can indicate power but a high resistance connection in the circuit could still prevent enough current flow to light up a bulb.

You can test this type of circuit with a load generating tester know as a 12 volt testlight. Here is where the danger lies; If in fact you are probing into a digital control circuit with a testlight (instead of the power circuit you thought you were working on) you will short it out and most likely destroy the solidstate control mechanism.

You can test for ground by clipping the testlight cord to B+ befor probing the wires or you can test for power by clipping the testlight cord to ground befor probing a powered on circuit. You can also test a bulb by grounding one contact and probing another with a testlight clipped to B+, if the testlight comes on at all no matter how dimly then the bulb filament connected to the terminal you probed is good.

To determine the highbeam wire unplug the connector from the headlight and probe the connections carefully for B+ with the circuit powered up. The one that has power only when the high beams are turned on (blue light on dashboard lit up) is for the highbeams. The one with no power ever is the ground and the other is for the lowbeams.

without being too confusing.

Do you need to wire the dimmer illumination wire if your new radio dont have it?

No. There is no illumination, speed or retained accesory power in the factory radio. It is accomplished with car's CANbus communication. To hookup illumination wire on 2006 VW Jetta, tap into white/black wire at the light switch. It dims your lights on your radio. You can also set up different color for day and night.

How could you replace your stock radio wiring harness in your 1991 Mercury Tracer if you had cut it out?

Tie wraps can be used to replace a stock radio wiring harness in a 1991 Mercury Tracer. The wires can be replaced with other radio wire from an automotive parts store and the tie wrap can hold them together.

What is rms power on sub woofers?

RMS is the max watts its recommended to run on, for example i got 2 15's that are 3000 watt rms so i got a 2500 watt amp. You don't want to get too big of an amp because it will put stress on the speakers and wont last long.

How can you tell how many ohms a sub has?

The best way to determine the impedance of a speaker is to look for a label or marking on the speaker. Second best is to look the speaker up in the manufacturer's specifications. Measuring a speaker with an ohmmeter does not work, because you need the average impedance at AC, not DC. You could measure the current and voltage coming from the amp at various frequencies, but you may need to compensate for phase shift, and that procedure might not agree with the manufacturer's procedure. If you are going to look up the manufacturer's procedure, you might as well look up the speaker's impedance instead.

Do you need a Amplifier for 6x9 speakers?

You need an amplifier for any speakers if they are to function.

How do you remove the rear speakers?

On the first gen Intrepids you have to remove the rear seat and then take off the shelf above the speakers.

Now this isn't as hard as many people think it is. It only takes a few steps, and can be finished in a matter of 20 minutes. I'll lay it out as simple as I can.

Step 1:

In a 1st generationg there are two bolts holding the bottom seat cushion down to the car body. Put the front seats all the way forward so you can have more room to work. Start off on the drivers side and kneel down on the ground and put your head in between the drivers seat and the back seat. You will see a little groove where the bolt is. Feel around with your fingers if you cant see it, you'll find it. Remove that bolt using a socket wrench, or a basic wrench if you don't have one. Repeat this process on the opposite side. Now set those bolts aside and lift up on the seat cushion, it will pop right out. Dont worry about it being heavy, its only about 5 lbs max.

Step 2:

Take ur time to clean up all the crap that has fallen between the cracks in the past years and maybe vacuum if you feel so inclined. In my car i personally found about 4 bucks in change, three buttons, about 5 pens, and an unused piece of gum, haha. After you get that done, look at the bottom of the rear back cushion when the seat belts are attached. Use a socket wrench again to remove those bolts. Once you get em out set it aside. Now move the seat belts off the seat, so they wont be pulling against the cushion and place your hands on the bottom while kneeling towards the rear of the car. This is a tricky part. You have to first pull out towards the front of the car, to get the brackets off the bolts, then lift up swiftly and strongly to lift the top brackets out of the grooves. Now keep one hand on the bottom, and move the other to the top and sort of pull out towards you while you lift up still. With a little wiggling you will get it out. Set it aside and maybe relax for a second.

Step 3:

Now you will have a perfect view of the rear deck. Now if you tug on the rear deck a little, you will notice that you have a trim panel, one on each side, holding it back. Place your fingers under this trim and just pull it out. It snaps out pretty easy, Just don't break it. Now that the trim is gone, remove the screws holding the deck in place. Now pull on the rear deck again and wiggle it around till it comes out. remember you still have those speakers back there, so if you wanna save em, don't go bashing the deck around. You could also ask someone to help and lift those speakers out from inside the trunk while you pull. Remember you still have the seat belts holding onto the rear deck so ur not ganna get too far with it unless you wanna take those off as well.

Step 4:

Now that you have it off, you can do all the work you need, whether its dynomatting, replacing the speakers, porting, or anything else that strikes ur fancy. Re-installation is the exact same as the removal. Slide the rear deck into position, and replace the trim. The re-installation of the rear back cushion is slightly tricky again, but nothing you cant handle. Hold it steady and try to look over the top of it down, and guide those hooks into the grooves, once those are in, MAKE SURE TO PULL THE SEAT BELTS BACK TO THE FRONT OF THE SEAT! I forgot to do that and it added a little time onto my re-install, haha. Push the rear seat back into the two bolts, make sure to put the seat belts back on. you will be able to tell which side was which if you just think about it. the one with the two female sockets will go on the left side of the car if us facing forward i believe, but don't quote me on that cause its off the top of my head. Once you have those on, put the nuts back on and tighten em down. Now put the bottom cushion back on and make sure the slot that is attached to the seat goes BEHIND the bracket that is attached to the car. These are the bracket that are in the front of the bottom cushion. Screw em back in and presto. You're done

All in all the procedure is pretty simple. Yeah my how to might have been long but the 1st gen needed on in here. And even though its long, its still a process that only takes 20 minutes of ur time.
