Actually, no. A red eared slider does NOT grow to their environment. If you feed it, it will grow. If not it will, obviously not grow then die. But there is no way to tell how old a RES is unless you hatched it or know who hatched it. It does not matter how big it is. Some owners over feed or under feed their turtles so there is no way determining it by size either.

The shell of a tortoise is similar to the human rib cage. To be precise, the human rib cage has spaces between them which seperates 1 rib from the other. For a tortoise the ribs are merged together forming a conch aka shell. Hence if you ever tap hard on the shell of a tortoise a few times, you will see immediate movement in the form of the tortoise trying to run away from you. Hence if the shell of the Tortoise breaks it results in immediate death of the tortoise . Hence one should never try and remove the shell of the tortoise. Incase the shell cracks , immediately take your tortoise to a pet doc. Also bandage the crack like you would to a human wound. Ensure that the bandage is firm so as to hold the shell together.

It depends on the toad. On average one fire belly toad will eat around 10-12 crickets a week, in the spring and summer. They tend to hibernate in the fall and winter and may not eat for weeks to months on end. You should feed your fire belly as much as he/she can eat in a few hour period - and on a schedule of every other day or every few days. You can even feed them on a weekly basis. If you have more than one toad than you may not want to consider feeding them on a weekly basis - since you want to make sure that one of the toads is not monopolizing all of the food.

male: the bottom of the shell will dip inward. tail will be long and somewhat fat. claws will be longer than its foot.

females: bottom of the shell will be flat, tail is small and short. claws are short.

Its like asking why cheerleaders stack on top of each other. They do it for fun and entertainment. So do the turtles. Then again it depends on the number,, two or three turtles could mean something else. Just look into it if they are your turtles stacking on top of each other.

Nope - they are completely different animals, would never encounter each other in the wild - and would never mate naturally.

They live mostly in jungles but few are down underground in sewers.

Tortoises are grazing animals, so they like grasses and weeds. You have to be careful about what kinds of vegetables you give them though. Dark leafy greens are great in moderation. They should be eating mostly grass with greens as a supplement. NEVER feed a turtle or tortoise iceberg lettuce. They also love Opuntia cacti. Make sure that everything you feed them is not treated with pesticides before you give it to them. Also, change their diet every so often to keep things interesting.

If they are in captivity then yes they will eat , but if they are wild they hibernate because it gets to cold and all the food they eat, cricketts, mealworms, and bugs, those all die or aren't around so the frogs have to hibernate or theu would most likley die.
