The reason why your Caprice jerks and acts as if it is shifting when you accelerate is because your transmission is about to go. Your best bet is to take it in to a tranny shop as soon as possible. My 1985 Caprice transmission went at 186,000 although I didn't own the car until it had 140K on it so I have no way of knowing. Take a look at the fluid on the transmission dipstick and that should tell the story. Mine went from a deep red to a nasty looking black and it was then that I knew I had a problem. The next day my daughter took the car to school and drove it home. By the time she got home, the transmission was slipping so badly that it overheated the engine in spite of the fact that I had a high capicity, three core radiator in the car. The car still would start and run good but something must have happened because I gave it to a friend who never did get it running properly.

Try to move the diaphragm on the EGR valve, it should move semi-easily but if it is hard as rock try pushing harder on it to free it up. My 91 k1500 305 had this same problem and that is what I did to solve it. Once the diaphragm moves freely remove the negative battery cable to reset the computer. Drive the car at highway speeds and see if the check engine light comes back on.

There is a bleed screw on the thermostat housing. Remove the screw with the engine loose. Ounc you have pure coolant and no air you can close off the bleed screw.

I would never convert a 1967 Impala 4 speed to A/T. It is worth more in 4 speed form. But yes it can be done. You will need the transmission and torque converter with the correct bellhousing. You will need the transmission mount cross member, and more than likely the drive shaft. You will also need a floor shifter which would be easy to purchase. You could fabricate the cross member mount and the drive shaft if need be.

This could be caused by the use of the wrong-size filter, by not tightening the filter enough, or by having debris which break the seal between the oil line and the filter.

Can also be you did not apply oil to the filter gasket. Can also be over-tightened the filter. Should be tightened 3/4 turn after making contact with the mounting surface.

Id say eBay or Amazon just got to make sure the number on the back of remote matches the car :-) and you should be able to program it through the stereo

1. Drain the coolant system.

2. Drain the engine oil.

3. Install an Engine Support Fixture.

4. Raise the engine so that the weight is removed from the engine mount.

5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

6. Remove the water pump pulley bolts.

7. Remove the accessory drive belt(s).

8. Remove the drive belt tensioner.

9. Remove the water pump pulley.

10. Remove the crankshaft balancer.

11. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) and Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor connections.

12. Disconnect the Oil pressure sensor connection.

13. Remove the CKP sensor shield.

14. Remove the engine mount bracket.

15. Remove the front oil pan-to-front cover bolts.

16. Remove the oil filter.

17. Remove the lower radiator hose.

18. Disconnect the CKP sensor.

19. Remove the front cover.

20. Rotate the crankshaft until the timing mark on the camshaft sprocket is aligned with the crankshaft sprocket timing mark.

-To install-

1. Install the crankshaft sprocket.

Note: It may be necessary to use a gear installer to fully seat the gear. Be sure the timing mark on the crankshaft gear is pointing straight up

2. Install the camshaft gear with the timing chain.

Hold the sprocket with the timing mark facing downward and the chain hanging down off the sprocket; then, loop the chain under the crankshaft sprocket

3. If the marks are not in alignment perform the following:

Step 1: Remove the camshaft sprocket and timing chain.

Step 2: Install the camshaft sprocket onto the camshaft and rotate the camshaft until the camshaft and crankshaft marks are aligned.

Step 3: Remove the camshaft sprocket.

Step 4: Reinstall the assembly.

4. Install the camshaft sprocket bolt and torque the bolt to 74 ft. lbs. (100 Nm) plus an additional 90 degree turn.

5. Install the timing chain damper and torque the mounting bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).

6. Install the front cover seal lubricated with engine oil, using the appropriate seal driver.

7. Install the new front cover gasket.

8. Install the front cover and torque the bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm) plus an additional 40 degree turn.

9. Install the oil pan-to-front cover bolts and torque the bolts to 125 inch lbs. (14 Nm).

10. Connect the CKP sensor and torque the bolts to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm)

11. Install the CKP sensor shield.

12. Install the engine mount bracket and torque the bolts to 65 ft. lbs. (87 Nm)

13. Install the water pump pulley and torque the bolts to 115 inch lbs. (13 Nm)

14. Install the lower radiator hose.

15. Install the oil filter.

16. Install the crankshaft balancer and torque the bolt to 111 ft. lbs. (150 Nm) plus an additional 75 degree turn.

17. Install the belt tensioner and torque the bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm)

18. Install the accessory drive belt.

19. Connect the negative battery cable.

20. Remove the engine support fixture.

21. Refill the cooling system.

22. Refill the engine oil.

23. Start the engine and check for leaks, repair if necessary.

go back and check each plug gap, put the gap at .44. check to see if all plug are screwed in all the way (especially back plugs), check the plug wire is completely down on the plug (especially on the back plugs). shaking could be bad wire, misfire, leaking vaccumm lines. if you don't have a code scranner, go to auto zone and get code read out. they do it free.

I don't have a 63 impala but if I did and there were ss badges on it I would want to know for sure if it was real, you can check the serial # on the vin to be sure.

On the drivers side of the vehicle, remove plastic vent screen at bottom of windshield. Using a regular screwdriver,to remove the plastic screws. Under it you will find a yellow capped reservoir this is you brake fluid reservoir. Insure you put correct brake fluid. The cap has minimum specifications as to what kind to use.

No tools required pull valve from valve cover, pull valve from vacuum line, install new valve.
