What causes 2000 Malibu engine surge?

mass air flow sensor.(maf) this is the sensor for air entering engine, it is just before throttle body in hose from air cleaner. make sure air filter is clean, remove hose to get at sensor.take sensor off of vehicle, be careful not to touch the fine wires in side of it. put on a clean cloth and spray element with maf sensor spray. you can buy the spray at any auto parts store. becarefull not to touch sensor with anything, cause they cost a lot to change. by cleaning sensor you can improve mileage, a better idle, and controls surgeing. I did this to my 3.1, and it helped a lot.

Cars for big people?

Im 6'7" and wide like a linebacker, unfortunately most cars don't fit me. Either my legs are jammed into the dashboard, or against the center console. So ive been forced to drive large luxury cars. I currently drive a Cadillac DeVille DTS but im sick of having to use premium fuel so im buying a Lincoln Town Car. If youre not the luxury type, i hear the Scion xB is both a tall/big person friendly vehicle . . ill stick with my leather and traction control though.

In addition to what was mentioned above.

I am a large guy, 6'3 and quite broad. I have a Chrysler 300 and it is very roomy. I have about 4-5" of head room when the seat it at it's lowest. They are a very spacious car as well.

In addition:

I'm 6'4" but I'm pretty skinny (180 pounds as far as I know) but the 2006 Ram 1500 I drive is perfect for me. I still have to slouch SLIGHTLY but other than that it's a comfortable ride. I also drive a 2007 Mazda 3 from time to time and that car is the worst for me because I always manage to hit my knees on the dash and I really have to stretch in order to reach the steering wheel. I hate that car but it's a good gas-saver.

What does code po403 means?

EGR Flow circuit malfunction ....which means power interrupted in the circuit. Try unplugging it then plugging back. Be sure to erase codes. If that dont work, take it off and check that it will move freely and it is not covered with exhaust carbon buildup. It is a high dollar part and very hard to diagnose if it is bad/going bad. Maybe if you know someone to borrow theirs for a moment, put it on your car to see if it solves your problem.

What is the correct grade of oil for a 1998 2.4L Malibu?

More than likely 10w30. Check your owners manual or call a Chevy dealer to be sure. Sometimes it is written on the oil cap. The factory specifies 5w30..in cold climates it helps the oil to flow better. In warm or hot weather 10w30 is acceptable..but under NO conditions should the 2.4 engine use any thicker oil..thicker would be 10w40.. 20w50 etc.

How do you fix a power steering pump on a 1999 Chevy Malibu?

How do you bypass a radiator fan relay so the fan will run whenever the engine is on a 2003 Chevy Cavalier?

Nevermind. The problems turned out to be the dash cluster is bad. No reason for the fan to come on as the engine never really gets warm. Mr Goodwrench proved the dash read 35 degrees higher than it should. BTW; There are two relays in the fuse holders on the left fender. One is for the radiator fan, the other is the inside compartment heater fan. You could just swap them IF you suspect a bad relay.

Behind the hazzard button there is actually a bulliten on many of the Malibus from 99-02 so if u take it to the dealer and give them bulletin # 04098A they should fix it for free as long as it isn't over 10 years or 150,000 miles

How do you charge ac on 2004 Malibu?

You are going to have to take it to a shop. If not you can add r134, but the problem is if you already have some in there and you add more, it will cause the compressor valve to open, which is loud and plus you lose all your refrigerant. When you take it to a shop ask how much you already had in there when they retrieve it with their machine, or ask to watch on the machine it will say how much was retrieved. System capacity is usually located underneath the hood, usually up to a few pounds. Hope this helps

Where is the oil filter located on a 2004 Chevy Malibu 2.2L?

It is located under a cap on the drivers side of the engine behind the exhaust manifold. Use a 32 mm (1 1/4 in) socket on the hex on the top of the oil filter cap, or an oil filter wrench on the outside diameter of the oil filter cap to remove. Do NOT use pliers or a wrench as damage will result.

Answerhttp://image.snapon.com/international/pdf/A106.pdf if you look on this page it shows the 2.2 ecotec oil filter its top mounted, its black it has a cover so you have to remove that before removing the oil filter

The filter is a cartrige type. it is actually under/ beside the intake on the front of the motor on the drivers side mounted to the block. has a black cap that its best to use the special socket made for the ecotec engine oil filter cap. it is shorter giving you the proper clearance to remove the filter cap without jamming the socket against the intake.

How do you fix cooling system for Chevy Malibu 2001?

First of all switch the coolant from Dexcool to the universal green antifreeze coolant. Along with that change the Thermostat. If it keeps overheating make sure the fan goes on when the engine is in overheating stage. If the fan does not go on then the vehicle may have problem with one of the below, 1. fan switch/motor 2. engine temp.sensor If the fan goes on when the car is overheating and also when there is enough coolant in the tank, then there is problem with the Head-gasket. which is common for GM vehicles. Changing Head-gasket by a certified mechanic will be the final solution. ============================================================

Not much to go on but...

First, BE SURE YOUR VEHICLE'S COOLING SYSTEM IS FULL!

Your Chevy dealer WILL ALWAYS use DexCool. You may think it's a scam or something but who are we to argue with GM?

If not, FILL IT! If it keeps 'disappearing' after a few days or a few weeks, your engines gaskets are probably worn beyond ignoring. (I killed my 98 Malibu by ignoring the issue, I loved my Malibu... sigh...). They MUST be replaced before the engine oil and coolant 'become one with each other' (BTW... this is bad).

If your engine is full, and your coolant hoses become firm (firm by means of pressure from heated gases and liquids expanding in your cooling system) after running a while...

I would start with the Thermostat...

If your engine is not running anywhere near 195 degrees Fahrenheit after running for about 15 minutes, your thermostat is most likely stuck open and , therefor, your engine is not warming up to operating temperature. Just watch your temperature guage on your next trip to the market. My 2003, Chevy, 2300 V6 engine needs to warm to 150-160 to even start to heat the vehicles interior and during very cold conditions, it may take up to 175-180 before good 'hot' air gets going. Be aware other issues can cause this as well. Water pump failures and blockages in the system can cause COLD air blowing from the heater as well. If the air is cool or WARM, go with the thermostat first. It's inexpensive, and 'relatively' easy to do.

Good Luck!
