Auto shop wanted to charge me $135.00 , I went to Auto Zone and bought the filter, 6 quarts of transmission fluid, and replaced myself same time with the engine oil, replacing engine oil cost me $22.00 (special filter-$11.99), and transmission cost me $35.00.

I'm not an expert, but I had the same problem. My mechanic told me that the rheostat which controls fan speed was burnt out at the first two contact points and would also not be functioning properly at the higher level for long. I had him replace it, now it's fine.

For the Mid-2005 Malibu (the boxy model, not the Classic) the headlights are part of the front light module that includes the headlights and the combination front marker/turn signal. This module is attached by two bolts on the top. These are easily seen if the top of the module is examined from above with the hood of the car open.

Remove the two bolts with a nut driver. Set the bolts and their washers aside for use in re-assembly. Lift the module slightly away from the the car body -- a few inches -- and look behind it to see where the lighting module wiring is plugged into the car's wiring harness. This socket has a retainer clip molded into it, but that is easily released. Then the wiring can be unplugged.

Take the light module to your work bench (or kitchen table). Look at the back of the module. There you will see three twist in bulb covers. Remove the cover that is over the bulb you want to replace and you have access to the bulb socket. Replace the bulb. Reverse the process to re-assemble.

Never heard it called a gen 5. I'm guessing you mean 78 and up. If so, it'll fit. The ones I've seen though required getting rid of the A/C box on the firewall....if so equipped. Other than that it's a matter of engine mounts and a set of heavy duty coil springs. One other thing to consider is the diameter of the power brake booster. I'm not sure if that has to be replaced with a smaller one. Most header companies make headers for the swap.

Apply 12 volts directly to the motor. If it runs, it is the resistor pack, or the switch. If it doesn't it is the motor. I hope you have checked the fuse.

on side of throttle body!it is round and has 3 wires going to it is black,it is operated by the ecm,you can take it off and clean it with carb cleaner,with a fine toothbrush do not put valve body in solvent clean just the valve itself!! on v6. do not push on valve it will change setting,it measures 1and 1 /8th from body to tip of valve

ok i actually have a 99 mailbu and my cap also just came off, my husband had to litterly pry it off. that's the only way that thing comes off.

I don't have an answer I am also wondering since I went to take mine off today and the inside apparently that has the threads connecting it to the overflow tank stayed on connected and the outer part that you twist came off so now I am stuck with the plug still in and no way to get it out.

I had the same problem with my 2001 Malibu. The cap is broken and needs to be replaced. not expensive at all.

right on top of the engine block, ask an auto parts employee for the number and ur set

could be weak return springs, or a broken spring. if springs, put on new ones. they are not that much at a auto parts place.

The reason you cannot find it is because it isn't there to be found. newer chevys don't use liquid power steering boxes its electronic. and when it starts to feel limp you MUST replace the ENTIRE units costing about $800 bucks.

1) You first need to remove the windshield trim piece that goes from the dash to the headliner.

2) Next remove front assist handle from headliner. This is kind of tricky. Have a screwdriver handy and pop plastic covers up.n They are attached on the sides. Take handle and push towards the rear of the vehicle and stick screwdriver in hole and pry hold tab up. The front comes out similar.(Remove back of handle first)

3) Next recline seat and pop center trim back from it's clips.

4) Open and rotate sunshaded parallel to side window.

5) Insert a small tool into hole @ arm of the visor.

6) Push upwards on tool while rotating towards windshied. The pivot arm will appear to be recessed into the bezel now.

7) Push outward and pull down firmly. The sunshade and headliner should be separated from the roof structure.

8) Now pull down the headliner and rock the visor up and down and the black clip should pop off above the headliner.

9) If you have lighted visors pull the wires away from the headliner and unplug.

INSTALLATION ::

1) Plug in visor.

2) Position wire into slot on visor.

3) Position visor into hole and place retainer clip between headliner and roof structure.(You will need an extra hand with this step) (Oh Yeh, The retainer clip is a real patience tester. There are (3) slots that it fits into on arm. Not to be confused with the wire hold down tab.)

4) Make sure visor is parallel with windshield and push up into hole. Continue upward pressure while turning visor towards side window. As you turned it the bezel should have become flush now.

5) Return all trim pieces to their spots.

Congrats. If you did it without losing your temper. If not. Welcome to the club.

I believe on the passenger side of the engine (the "front" of the engine since it's a front wheel drive, it's turned sideways in the engine compartment). On the newer (not newest, per se) model Malibu, the engine must be supported while the engine mount is removed or unbolted to replace the belt. Of course, if you are just doing the pulley, the belt can lay there until the new pulley is installed, and supporting the engine/removing th emount will not be necessary. Find the serpentine belt and it will be in contact with the tensioner pulley. Tensioners and idler pulleys are typically fairly simple to replace, and relatively inexpensive (parts at least) from what I've seen.

remove the trim around switch, remove screws that hold switch in, pull switch out, remove wire connector.

You need a Tech II scanner,

Using a connected Tech2,

1. At the Main Menu screen, select: Diagnostics.

2. At the Vehicle Identification screen, select the following options:

■ Model Year

■ LD Trk, MPV, Incomplete

3. At the System Selection Menu screen, select: Body

4. At the Vehicle Identification screen, select the following:

■ Appropriate model

■ Appropriate Air Conditioning

■ Navigation Radio

5. At the Body Screen, select: Navigation Radio.

6. At the Radio screen, select: Special Functions.

7. At the Special Functions screen, select: VIN Relearn.

8. At the VIN Relearn screen, the scan tool will display "Do you want to clear radio theft information?"

9. To begin clearing, press the soft touch key on the top right of the scan tool. The scan tool will display "Clearing Radio Theft in Progress."

10. Press EXIT on the scan tool and cycle the ignition.

Important:

The radio theft will learn the VIN. Without learning the VIN, the radio will display a locked message (LOC or LOCKED).
